Got my eye on this bad boy but a bit concerned with its size. Can anyone speak to this knife in an edc capacity? I'm more of a user than a collector.

I usually carry a 0562. Anyone got a side by side of the 0562 and a 0452?

Thanks
drew

Do your EDC tasks require a filet knife?

Because, otherwise... I'd stick with the 0562.

It is good for me. Deep carry and slender. Carries easily and a long enough handle to be comfortable.

Yes I EDC a fillet knife.

I've thought about the 452 because it's just a beautiful piece, but IMO ZT made a strategic mistake by designing the blade length to be 4.1 inches. If they had trimmed only a tiny bit off it would've been legal for carry in Florida, and likely a couple of other states (not an expert in knife laws). Weak!

I actually would compare it more to the classic "steak knife" that everyone has in their kitchen drawer.
It has a very steak knife feel.

Personally, I love it.
Anyone who EDCs a Military knows the joys of a large blade. Sure, you may not *need* 4" every day, but so what?

A fella's EDC knife isn't always just about cutting tasks... otherwise I'd just stick with the ManBug on my keychain and never need to carry anything else.

I have carried the 0452CF, but not as much as my 0454. The 0452CF is a bit more comfortable to carry (thinner). Other than that, it's the same size as the 0454. As far as size goes, it is the longest bladed knife I've carried. Its design actually allows it to carry pretty comfortably in pocket, especially given its size.

Here are some shots of the 0452CF and 0562:

Amen to every word you said, sir!

Hey Sosa, what clip is that you've got installed? It looks a hell of a lot better and more proportionate than the teensy cryo clip that comes stock.

Thanks everyone, great pics btw, very helpful!

I just discovered the 0808. Now in torn between the 2! I know, get both. Trust me i will but only one at a time

When you need a longer blade a shorter blade is not the right tool for the job. The usual suspects pocketable long reach folders:

Folding, Buck lock back, fillet knife, 3.23 ounces, slides thru the meat and skips along the contour of the bones
TiMi, framelock, 5.81 oz., not a steak knife
ZT 452cf, framelock, 4.27 oz., a very very nice steak knife

If we had any left I'd be carrying one. My brother has been carrying it every day since it came out, no complaints at all from him.

I think the 0452cf is a great knife with great action and even though it is long it is slim. The only way I can see it being a bit much is if you are a guy who wears pants or jeans with really shallow pockets. And I personally like the long slender profile of the knife for edc tasks. And I think pictures can be deceiving. In my hand I never once was reminded of a fillet knife.

The 0452CF is my current EDC and it works great. Lots of knife yet very light, thin and narrow. To me it is perfect.

Whitty has the 0808 anodized for the same price. USA made.
