Why are they so expensive over there? That 0392 costs 50% more than they went for here.
considering the original 454 was $500 direct from ZT, and the fact this one has to be shipped in from Russia.....the price seems to be pretty appropriate, even reasonable if you catch conversion on a good day. Of course I've been called crazy many times![]()
Probably something to do with the bad Russian economy..
When the economy is bad, demand for luxury items falls. When demand falls, expensive goods will not sell as quickly unless the price falls. Slow inventory turnover is not a very desirable outcome for any retailer, regardless of the economy.
True but this is a global economy. They know there is demand for this knife in other countries so considering how weak the Russian economy is and the crazy favorable exchange rate they will make a double killing on these.
Similar to how I just bought a knife from a Canadian maker and once he converts it into CDN he'll make like 50% more even though a few years ago he would have made roughly the same amount.
The first question is who's setting the price. Zero tolerance or the dealer? Second, this knife was released for the Russian market, so I don't see how global consumers are relevant.
If they are worried about weak demand, they would have just made this international release.
ZT already made their money. I'm not sure if there are MSRP price controls in Russia like here (I doubt it). What I'm saying is that the Russian dealers are going to use this knife and try to sell them internationally themselves at a premium price due to demand and then get a double bonus when they convert those dollars into Roubles.
I don't know if you noticed but this is the first Russian exclusive I have seen that is being ACTIVELY marketed to overseas buyers. When the 0777BW got there, the economy in Russia was doing better so they were very hard to get outside of Russia. The 0454-204p is comparatively much much easier to get here than the 0777BW. I think that is directly related to the Russian economy.

this is true. my 454 204P was much much much.......WAY.....easier to get than my 0777BW
How do you even go about getting a knife from russia?
Pay the price they are happy to take your money...
