Guys, I was browsing NationalKnives today and saw that there is going to be limited edition ZT knife coming soon. It's $400, a little expensive for me right now, so I thought I'd share it with you guys.

-4.1" Blade
-4.1 OZ
-CPM-D2 Cutting edge with Sandvik 14C28N
-Carbon Fiber Handle

Looks like a nice knife, but again, I can't afford it right now. I wish! Here's the link:

This knife debuted last year and there is already a several page long thread about 10 threads down from here...

Yes this is a blade many have been waiting on for sometime, I believe the rush to get one when released may get scary

Looks awesome but it's a shame that there will be another ZT for approaching $1000 on the secondary market.

I guess it would be better if the price went from $500 to $250 after an LE is released ??

How does that make any sense??

Why is that a shame? Shows how high a demand these LE ZTs are in.

ZT and a few other upper-echelon production companies provide the opportunity for a larger audience to own and use innovative and cool new designs, from both in-house and custom designers, made with excellent materials, backed with the warranty of a solid and long-standing company. Seeing knives like the 0454 with very limited availability and instant 100% markups on the secondary market is frustrating if you're used to being able to get awesome designs at a very reasonable price from ZT.

From my POV, ZT just released a sleek 4" knife that weighs in at barely over 4 oz and doesn't have a blade approaching the width of a shovel. In that regard it's the kind of design not seen from them since the 0780 (another limited release). I really like my 0801CFBRW, but I would also love to have something lighter and slimmer from them, like their take on the type of knife exemplified by a BM 710 or 806 or Spyderco Millie.

It's very unlikely I'll ever own a 0454, because it's unlikely that I'll be able to get one from a dealer and while it's worth $400 to me, $1000 is a no-go. So from that perspective, yeah, it might be a shame. But I'm still glad they made it, because now they might make a 3.75" version with an Elmax blade, tone the CF down a bit but at least keep some of it around, and price it at $300 or below - I'd be all over that.

Otherwise... well, I've got an M390 710 and 806 and I'll be glad to keep carrying them.

Just because one person paid $1000 for it because he was duped into believing there was only 100. You won't know until they are all out there. The prices on LEs like the 0600, 0801cf, 0560cbcf are not INSANE.

Are they more expensive than new, yes, but they aren't anywhere close to 2x the price.

True. We'll just have to wait and see, I suppose.

That's based on isolated cases where the buyer and others bought into ZT only producing altogether 100 of the 0454. Thus far, there are no facts to support that.

for example, the one on the big auction site has been up almost a day and has NO bids.

Time will tell.

Dealers were selling the 0888M390 for around $600 and they can still be had for $800 if you hunt.

I think that once all the 0454's are out the prices will settle down a bit.

But what do I know?? lol

Here's a photo of me picking mine up at Blade Sat. June 7th.
Photo from ZT's Facebook page.
They posted pics of all ten lotto winners.

So true, there's always someone with the addiction and deep pockets that can afford to have it now.

I respect Skywalker's view as I never forget my humble beginning in the pocket knife game.
