just got a 462 a few days ago . The action is unbelievable. The 452 is awesome as well but the 462 is better . Does the 462 have an extra washer on the titanium side that the bearings ride on that the 452 does not , or maby just the blade shape and weight and orientation of the blade that provides the advantage over the 452 . Haven’t taken them apart but thought I saw where someone said they added a washer on the 462 after customer requests for smoother action ? Believe it came out several yrs after the 452 . Love both knives a lot , but 462 has better action.

I own 5 ZT0452 variations and only 1 variation of the ZT0462. So, my preference is obvious.

Never bothered to compare the "action" between the ZT 0452 and 0462, nor have I taken a ZT 0452 or 0462 apart.

Would be interested if you find an answer to the question you raise but ultimately it makes no difference to me.

I kinda struggle with the shape of the 0462 or else I’d already have one. Love my various 0452s though!

You should feel the action with ceramic bearings - it’s pretty nuts.

Is your 452 the all Ti version ?
No ,cf , my two favs are this one and the 462 by far . Really don’t have anything else out there right now that I think I gotta have , these two knives are Executed almost , if not as good as customs I believe . For me anyway, I don’t know how u would improve on these without spending hundreds more

Action on this g10 model, strong detent that takes some force to overcome. Then it flies open fast and hard.

That’s awesome . Mine has great action also, but the 462 , on closing feels so smooth that it’s like someone customized it or something. As soon as it breaks free of the lock , it falls shut fast all the way down , I actually nicked my thumb when I first got it . I have a 920 , 452 , 562 , and many other flippers from other brands and nothing is like this 462 . its not a loose pivot either , absolutely no blade play in any direction . Just the smoothest, no friction action u could ever imagine. Just have to be more aware closing it than all my others . Really really like it a lot . took a while for the shape to grow on me , over the years I wasn’t crazy about it , but after a while I said I gotta have that thing ! So glad I did , bought it off the exchange from a very professional individual 👍

I was the same way with the shape for a long time , but then it started drowning on me over the years . A while back I said I gotta have one , found it on the exchange , and got it a few days ago . So glad I did , if u like the 452 u would like the 462 just as much if not better I believe . By far my two fav knives now . Maby because it’s new to me , but I like the ergonomics and the style better than the 452 . Never woulda believed it , we will see as time goes by

I waited too long on getting my 462 , I think u would be pleasantly surprised , I at this time like it more than the 452
Are the blade sizes basically the same length. I see the 0462 measures 1/4 shorter everywhere, but is that because the handle material is a little longer past the pivot than then 0452?

Looks like holding em cutting edge to cutting edge they are almost identical . handle on the 462 is actually maby 1/8 to 1/4 inch longer . You are correct the way you describe it . Knives to me feel like the same overall size , just very different shapes . I kinda favor the 462 after getting it in hand , don’t lose anything on the cutting edge itself

So, I’ll definitely have to pick it up at some point. I like the red carbon fiber too.

I'd agree that the action on the 0462 is very smooth, but I haven't owned a ZT yet that wasn't. The 0462 is certainly a beast and brings a smile to my face. It's like whipping out a mini-scimitar.

The 0460 ti is no less silky smooth, and a really nice slim EDC.

A steel washer over the titanium is more for long-term durability than it is for smoothness. It provides a sacrificial wear surface that can be replaced if it starts to develop a groove.
Steel bearings are much less consistent in terms of roundness than ceramic, so you may have just gotten lucky on getting a good set that wasn't over-torqued on assembly.
