Zt 0462 vs zt 0452

Got the 0462 in this afternoon. Beautiful knife - total ZT. As far as it vs my beloved 0452s? I think I’ve gotta give it to the 0452 still.

Need more play/flip time. I do love the red CF. But that shape is still just …awkward.

Yeah the shape is unique for sure , its gonna grow on u , I have no doubt . At the same time the 452 has gotta b one of the very top knives zt has ever produced in my opinion . Has everything I ever wanted in a folder , size, weight , blade shape , lock up , materials . I really wonder if s35 steel can really , in everyday use , take a back seat to any steel . That’s whats in my 452 , i guess there’s been different steels in em ?. I know they keep coming up with latest and greatest steels , different properties and so forth but if I only got s35 in any knives from now on , in a folder , I would be more than fine . s30 was always fine with me as well . I’m no steel expert however . Just a lifelong knife nut 😀

Sometimes they just have to break in. My oldest 0452s (regular version, ti, and G10) are about as smooth as anything. (Same with my older 0562 g10)

Out of curiosity, I just compared the "action" of the only 0462 that I own (a DLC Sprint) to the five 0452's that I own.

Only the 0452Ti matched the 0462 for smoothness. All of the others were a bit "stiffer" than the 0462 which I attribute to a "lack of use" and/or the difference in the blade weight (overall and balance) and design (straight vs upswept).

There could also be differences in the washers used, the tension of the pivots and degree of lubrication applied but I'm not going to take my knives apart to check that.

LOL! ;)
