ZT 0550 Update

So, a bit of bad news today on the 0550. Uddeholm informed us that there is another delay with the release of the Vanax 35, and couldn't give us a time table on when it would be available to us.

So, not to further delay the 0550, we've opted on turning to CPM-S35VN as an alternative. The 0550 will be the first Kai product to incorporate S35VN, and feel the steel will compliment the design quite nicely. We have the S35Vn in stock now, so it wont be too long before it hits the factory floor. Will keep you all posted on an ETA. Pricing and all other knife specs will stay the same.

As to the Vanax 35, we will continue to wait on it, but will look to use it on a different project once received.

Thanks for the update, Thomas. I was eager to try the Vanax 35, but, like gundude, I've heard very good things about S35VN as well. Still really looking forward to this one, and to whatever project you end up using Vanax 35 on. :thumbup:
 
I can't speak for everyone, but I certainly appreciate the heads up, and personally have no bad feelings about that... you guys at Kershaw rock as far as keeping us informed!!

Oh well, guess I'll have to get the S35VN version in something else in the Vanax later. Oh darn! ;)

I do not usually buy doubles of a knife, but am so impressed with the design and function of my 0551, I will be picking up a 0550 when it comes out just to have this fantastic design in another great steel.
I was looking forward to the Vanax, but this new direction is intruiging as well. I am eagerly anticipating picking one up when they hit the shelves.
 
How bout some Vanax 75? But, S35VN seems like a very good choice anyways. Is there any chance that you will be doing a DLC coated version of the 0550? And is there any update about the second Zero Tolerance and Rick Hinderer collaboration?

Frankly, I'm good with that and might even be a little more excited now. Nothing bad about the Vanax 35 but I'm looking forward to the S35VN. Maybe you can consider the Vanax 35 in one or more of those new designs you posted a while back.

Thanks fo the heads up. After all, bad news doesn't get better with age. Not that the steel swap is that bad.
 
Thank you very much for the update. I really appreciate your involvement on these forums, it is great when a consumer can have such interaction with a manufacturer.

I'm happy. Good knife, good steel. Waiting on a problem wouldn't make it go away, there could be more delays on down the line.
 
S35VN on. ZT/H design is not a bad thing at all. Lookong forward to this one even more.

Updates...hmmm...there two parties hot to trot, there is vision, there's a will and a way, there is an agreement, there is focus, there is a pattern, there is a CAD drawing, there are even details, there is a time, there is a place, and in the end...we're thinking there's a bad ass knife.
