Just picked up a 0551 a couple weeks ago, but I can't wait for the CPM S35VN 0550.

So, a bit of bad news today on the 0550. Uddeholm informed us that there is another delay with the release of the Vanax 35, and couldn't give us a time table on when it would be available to us.

So, not to further delay the 0550, we've opted on turning to CPM-S35VN as an alternative. The 0550 will be the first Kai product to incorporate S35VN, and feel the steel will compliment the design quite nicely. We have the S35Vn in stock now, so it wont be too long before it hits the factory floor. Will keep you all posted on an ETA. Pricing and all other knife specs will stay the same.

As to the Vanax 35, we will continue to wait on it, but will look to use it on a different project once received.

I was just on the kershaw knives website and found the ZT 0550 page. All this time and Kershaw still has the 0550 steel specified as "Vanax 35". Is this a manufacturing/web IT disconnect or has ZT gone back to Vanax 35? TIA

It's going to be S35VN. Kershaw's website isn't always up to date.

MSRP: $250-20%=$200 that would be MAP price, or the lowest price that can be advertised. With that said the MSRP on the 551 was also $250 and I purchased mine for $180 shipped.

Earlier tonight, I was just on Knifecenter's website looking at the specs for the ZT 0550. For some reason they have it listed as having a black blade. Last I heard from Thomas W. was that the S35VN blade on the 0550 is going to be stonewashed like the 0551 blade. Can someone clarify? I have a feeling that KC's site has old information regarding the initial info given on the proto 0550.
