Hey guys, looking at them, and would love to hear some opinions before I throw down the money. Just a few questions.

Are they pretty stout knives? Like as in the action, and how its built.

Are they pretty smooth?

Anything else I should know?

Thanks guys.

I don't own one. But they are smooth. And I happen to know someone who pried elevator doors open with one;) they're great knives, I just have ones I want more lol.

I just got a gen 1 from kershawguy, and I love it. I was worried at first if I'd like a knife this size, I carried a mini grip alot before, but those worries were in vain. The knife is super smooth, great lock up, nice ergos. It's stout but not uncomfortable in the hand and IMO the weight on the knive is balanced well. As far as performance goes I have had no problems. It hasn't left my pocket since I got it. I cut alot of cardboard and stuff at work and have had no problems and the edge is still as sharp as day one. I'd recommend it.

You will love the 0550 it seems to be a fav as every ones edc......Nic S said it all and is right on about it not leaving ur pocket. Im thinking of picking up the 0550blk today from kershawguy I love my Gen1 that much

It's a very tough knife and extremely smooth I would say it's my second favorite knife in my entire collection. Get one you will not regret it!

I just picked one up late last week. Its pretty stout but not in a bad way, fills the hand and the scale has great texture. Action is very smooth. I'm sorry it took me so long to pick up a 0550.

It's a beefy and stout knife along with being super smooth. Not beefy in a bad way either as it's one of my favorite EDC knives and carries smaller than it is IMO. Lockup on the three I have is excellent as is blade centering.
Great options for aftermarket scales if you're inclined to add some bling.
Overall it's a very nice high quality knife for under 200 bucks and feels like it.

just to re-enforce what everybody else has said, it's a super solid knife, it's as fast and smooth as my 0560's, even though it it lacks a flipper or KVT bearings.

I got a black one from Kershaw Guy too, he has a great price on them right now....

I had no clue the black 0560 didn't have the milling on the titanium side.

The owner of these knives (CBCF and the 0560BLK) switched the blades. The Ti side of the handle is milled on the 0560BLK knives.

I should have known that seeing the composite blade on the top knife (and that I have a couple myself)
Now that I'm looking closer you can see the cbcf milling
oh well

Back to the OP: yes it's a super smooth, perfectly beefy, crazy sharp and won't leave let me leave it at home. If I was forced to sell every single knife I own except one, there would be no hesitation in this being the last one standing.

I just got a new 550 (Gen 2) today. Great knife. It's a little beefier than my 561. Deploys as fast as the 561 too.

Got a gen1 and a gen2. I like the gen2 better. it's a bit smoother than the gen1.

When I first got it, it was a little tight/gritty in opening... but after a week of playing with it(opening and closing) it quickly smoothed out to a surprising buttery smooth action. It's just a FRACTION less smooth than my 560 with the KVT... but I've had my 560 for over 6 months... so it's broken in. The 550 IS smoother than my 561 which is newer...

Anyways, yes, it's a very stout knife. Not as stout as the 300 series... but not much else is, nor is that really necessary. I can whole heartedly recommend the 550 gen2. The gen1 is a little cheaper, but given the differences between the two, I prefer the gen2.

Good luck!

0550 G2=awesome. My edc. I find myself longing to buy more 0550's rather than trying different designs.

Have the 0550BLK, very smooth. Love the knife, very happy I bought it.
