ZT 0551 with up & down blade play?

What are these issues that you have been having. Specific Q/C issues.. just wondering,
It's very minor detail that a true knife nut wouldn't be happy about. Mostly, the machining is lacking a bit of quality. Humps here and there that don't get cleaned up.

Great Description.. Lord Knifenut
Specifics would be better since half of us customize and pimp our own knives. We know what quality is.

Hmmm that's interesting. I thought that blade play up and down was usually due to the lockbar wearing through the tang.

it can be, but in my experience this is not typically the case.

vertical play i have seen is the result of a shortage of lockbar tension. the result is the lock slipping toward open when pressure is applied to the spine of the opened knife.

my fix, as has been mentioned, is to increase the tension of the lockbar by bending it inward.

do you own one? if so look at it...closely. if not, then you don't know what I'm talking about do you? :jer kit:

I've handled a couple.

Yawwwnn.......Oh man I think I came back too soon.

That would make a great sig line... LOL
That is a good one. I might just have to add it. I admit that is silly. But, read the posts. CS Spartan stronger than a fixed blade?

I like the 0551. Hell, I bought two of them... then later sold. I just don't want to spend my time sanding one down to be happy with it. I'll still buy more ZT blades to use.
It's just something like the 0551 which should be considered a "special blade" as it is a limited run shouldn't have the minor flaws with machining that's all.

I'm glad I got his attention. Maybe, they will up the quality on them. As a customer that spends his $ on their product I would hope soo.

BTW, what knives have you had that have perfect fit and finish?

Did you really ask Thomas W if he's seen an 0551?

You do know who he is, don't you?

^seeing and handling are different than owning...I said own.

Do some research before calling people out. Thomas works for kerhsaw, and I would be confident in saying he's handled most every model kershaw/zt has made in the last few years.

If there's one person on this forum who knows kershaw, it's the guy you just called out.

You're going to have to start spending a lot more than $200 on each knife if you want to start seeing production knives free of machining marks.

That's classic, Thomas called out on a kershaw product, LMAO.

^this is the true. but, I think they can do better.

I wasn't calling anyone out. I posted in response to the yawnnn...not the name of the poster. I know he knows exactly what I'm referring to with respect to their machining.

See post #24.

Think I'll go back into hibernation now...

Yup, not worth your time. Take a longer vacation.

40degrees, yes you did call him out. Probably would have been better to have posted pics and been inquisitive instead of accusing.
