ZT 0561 lock bar?

My 561 has no lockbar insert nor do I want one. One more thing to fall off and lose screws. Looks-wise, cmon..... And I believe it unecessary for most owners.

OP--The 561 you receive will be fine...one of the best knives ZT ever made. It's very unlikely you'll wear it out. There's a break in period with this ZT. Any lockstick you experience will go away. I can only tell you I have the 60 and 61 and both arrived and are to this day FLAWLESS. Prior to that I was down on ZT's, too.

btw, there's something about the 561 being superior to the 560 in the area where the lockbar contacts the blade; something about the lockbar/blade interface I think. I think it has something to do with a slightly longer or thicker area of support on the 561 lockbar ?? Anyone else familiar with that technicality or heard of that? I've seen it discussed here......

The only difference between the 560 and 561 as far as i know is the color of the g10 scale. Now this series of knives did come with two different lock faces. I believe at one point they were curved, and then they switched to a straight angle on lock face or vice versa. I have never heard that there was any difference between the two besides the color. There were also some that had carbidized lock faces and very early ones didnt.

My 561 is an early one, #1411. No insert and still at about 50% lock-up. I'm not concerned about not having the insert. Zero blade play in any direction.

That might have been it. I know I didn't dream it. It was extremely technical and something about the lock bar/face or in that area. If I get the time I might search it later...

Don't want to add any flames to the fire but IF you are interested in snagging one with a lockbar insert, I bought one from Kershaw guy right around the time they were announced as discontinued. Like all the pros here say though, the 056X series are one hell of a knife and even without the insert, it doesn't take away from the knife at all. Like I said, if you would prefer one with it all the same, get in touch with CS over at kershawguy and see if they have anymore. Awesome service provider and took care of me through a long and ardorous shipping issue.

The lock stick that some people experience will eventually go away with regular use. In the meantime, there's always the pencil or sharpie trick (just mark up the lock face on the blade tang, and it'll help alleviate the lock stick while it wears in).

I had 2 0560s. One had a lock that just got stickier and stickier the more I used it. Tried sharpie and graphite but neither did anything. Eventually I sent it back. It was really bad. Got to the point where I had to use a flat head screwdriver as a prybar to close it. No exaggeration. If I didn't have a screwdriver, it would just be stuck open. I've had at least 30 titanium frame lock knives and nothing came even close to this one.

It's not a stabilizer, it's at the end of the lock bar, a steel insert, so as to not have the titanium contact the blade tang.

I've had an 0560 and two 0561's; no inserts and no problems... :D:thumbup::cool:

It should be just fine. ;)

Cool thread. I have learned a bunch! Other than Kershaw Guy (to whom I sent an e-mail earlier today), are there any other online sellers that you know have the ZT0560 or ZT0561 with the steel lockbar insert available? I don't want to break any forum rules, so if you want to send me an e-mail with dealer information, that's fine. ncrockclimb at yahoo dot com. Thanks for any help you can provide.

I read A review on Amazon that said someone had one. And Amazon was only 1$ more than I paid... I never thought to check there. I like the idea of a carbidized lock bar better anyways. My sebenza hasn't had any issues and I think the screw is ugly. eBay sells a lot of all hardware anodized. I'm thinking about picking it up on blue, comes with a deep carry pocket clip too.

Also have a ZT 561 serial#0326,one of the early ones without the insert and lockup is still at 50%.

I meant 9440... I've adjusted the pivot once to remove play but other than that it's perfect! Do you have to lubricate the bearings?

Serial 9940. It's got the insert. Sweet knife, very smooth

It has the insert? Where did you get it? I thought you were purchasing from BHQ and that they said it did not have the insert.

Regardless of all that, I am happy you like your knife. I hope to add one to my collection really soon!

I did order from BHQ. Apparently they didn't know what they were looking for. I even said "a screw in the lock bar by the blade tang side". It is a really nice knife, I love it.
