ZT 0562CF and ZT0452CF

@Everyone Just wanted all of you to know that I perserved with the knife and replicated what was working with my left hand with my right...coupled with all of your input. So, I am going to keep the knife (Cheers)

How does the CPM 20 CV respond to honing with green, then white, .5 diamond, and lastly leather. Touchups with a carbide hone?

Thanks again all of you. You are all great guys.

Picking up on the thread - what are your other frame locks? You mentioned the RAT 1 and 2, which are great knives, but are liner locks, not frame lock. I find overcoming the tension on a liner lock much easier than on a frame lock.

This is unrelated to the new developments, but related to the ZT 452CF.

That knife is so good, that I bought it, sold it, and now just bought it again.

What I have found works best for me unlocking most ZTs is only pushing the lock bar over far enough to just clear the edge of the blade tang, letting the detent ball stop the motion, then get my thumb out of the way and use my index finger to break the detent's hold on the edge of the blade tang, so the blade safely closes with a nice snap (almost as satisfying as the opening action). As was mentioned previously, I tend to push the meat of my thumb into that gap between the scales.

One of the ZTs that comes to mind that is not a problem in this way is the 0600, with it's thick blade stock, and therefore bigger gap between the scales, and lighter lockbar tension. The 0606CF and 0606BLK are the same way.

I have collected knives for awhile but am by no means an expert and I am new to the Forums. Most of my collection is from a long time ago....I took a bit of a hiatus from collecting. In any case, I recently picked up a Benchmade Crooked River which I absolutely love as well as a number of other knives including two cheap ones that are actually pretty good...Rat I and II by Ontario. I have large hands and generally like larger knives even for EDC. I have problems closing the knives....the thumb stud is really I stop. The flippers work flawlessly...closing is the problem.

So, I hear all these raves about ZT and in particular the Hinder slicer. I get one from Blade HQ. I told them I did not want the 204P but they send it anyway. I send it back they send the Crucible version of the same steel which is what I wanted. (Are they different, probably not. However, I wanted Crucible's.) So, I get the second knife and the lockup is from hell. I have strong hands but I am denting my thumb trying to CLOSE it. There is no jimping and little clearance. The third knife they send has the same problem. I am waiting for the fourth. Meanwhile I get the 0452 from Amazon. It has the exact same problem. No, it is not sticking....it does not need Graphite or oil as far as I can tell. The frame locks are just very tight. It is just that the frame lock requires a lot of force to bend it. I am not going to send either of these to ZT because it takes weeks. I think this is just the way they are. I think the answer is simple, ZT is not for me. Any thouoghts would be appreciated. I do have other framelocks and do not have this problem.

That sucks to hear, and I'm sorry you've had such bad luck with the ZT knives you've gotten so far. My $0.02 is this: I recently just purchased a brand new 0452CF and I had some problems opening and closing the blade at first. Coming up on about a week and a half of owning the knife, I now have no issues with it which leads me to believe that my 0452 simply needed to be broken in a bit with some repeated opening and closing and (more likely and) importantly, that I keep my digits off the lock bar when I actuate the knife (opening or closing it).
