Zt 0562cf break in?

I'm sure it probably just needs to be broken in,my pm2 took a little bit to get where it is now as well as my cqc7 so...i guess it just threw me for a loop when all the reviews I watched and read said nothing but great things about how smooth and fast it was out of the box

If it's grinding that's not going to break in. I've had a midtech before that did that and no it never got better, until it was corrected.

I looked on zt site and it said may take up to 6 weeks and I have to pay to send it to them. That figure's I may call blade hq see if I can just return it and get it elsewhere. It's more of a squeek now then a grind

If it's not smooth on bearings, making noises and lube won't fix it then it will never break in. There's something wrong with the bearings. The PM has no bearings, big difference.

Good point. And that is one of the reasons I went with this model is the bearings. I was initially going for the 0630

Oh, oh-with this new information regarding squeaky or grinding your knife needs to go back.

This is my luck blade hq has a 5% restocking fee too if I don't get something else from them

If it's the knife's problem, Blade HQ will take the knife back without charging a restocking fee, in that instance. Blade HQ like others out here stand behind their products. They want you to be happy and order again. Call them, let them know it's a QA problem, and proceed as you see fit.

I love all my ZT's, but I sent one in to them for a detent issue, and they returned it to me untouched with no explanation. Your mileage may vary.

So now, before I bother with the factory, for something like that, I would....

1. Loosen the pivot just a hair.
2. Inject WD-40.
3. Work it a few times.
4. Use compressor to blow out WD-40 until dry.
5. Re-tighten pivot to desired blade tension.
6. Re-oil with something light, like Rem-Oil.
7. Put band-aid on finger and start flipping until I get desired action. May take 100 or maybe 1000.

Almost always works....almost. ;)

I wonder if mine needs to go back. It now makes a kinda grinding noise when blade moves and can be downright hard to deploy and I'm not putting pressure on the lock.once free from detent it swings free but grinds a little.

Grinding noise is bad! Good luck getting it straightened out!

We will see blade hq says I can get another one or a refund.to be honest I'm kinda turned off by zt.I may get another Emerson but its probably easier to just get a replacement sent

Seriously, ZT makes awesome blades. Every once and a while, something gets past QC. Blade HQ will take care of you and so will KAI USA. However, you don't even have to go that far, Blade HQ will handle it. I too get anxious, when I'm in your situation; but ZT isn't popular, because lack of QC. This is fluke, an anomaly, and or something 'broke.'

No need to freak out. Send it back, explain the issue with a phone call and ask them nicely to check a different one out for you before being shipped. Not trying to be mean here, but this is getting a bit out of hand with worry for nothing really. Most knives that are sent in you pay shipping to them, some folks demand shipping be covered both ways, so to appease the squeaky wheel customers they accommodate them. There is an easy solution to this, it begins with calling the store where you bought it. The longer you worry, wait, and wring your hands over it the harder it will be. This is par for the course for many, many companies, nothing to obsess over, things just happen. If it most any other brand, I'd worry.
Also, not everyone has a decent knife store nearby that carries a wide variety of items enough to hand pick something, especially when it's the first from a company new to you. Many of us order online, sight unseen, with nothing but good results.

Post #33 contacted them they Re sending me a label to reship. Agreed with most everything you said rev devil but if a knife is sent to me with a issue why would II pay to send it back I contacted them within 24hours of me having it. I'm not really worried just bullshitting while I'm bored at work didn't think it was really a big deal. Blade hq was fine and didn't question it at all.
