In order to show you all that I am in fact open to finding out first hand what all the fuss is about surrounding these Spyder hole knives, I did pull the trigger on the Millie mentioned in my post above. After doing so, It dawned on me that I also own a Spyderco Street Beat. I had found a great deal on one several (9) months back (you know you are very sick, or very old, when you forget that you own a knife). I had purchased this little knife as a gift for my son (30, married, baby boy, homeowner). Again the deal was so good that I could not pass it up. I did look the knife over when I got it, but I boxed it back up thinking that I would just gift it to him for his birthday. I got him this and some Japanese water stones (synthetic). He had provided some tool gift suggestions prior to his birthday (work on the house), and I decided to give him one of my two Survive GSO 5.1, so my wife and I gave him those. So I had forgotten about the Street Beat. Similarly for Christmas, he had some tool ideas for around the house that we got for him.
Recently, I have been intrigued with small fixed blade knives to carry EDC. I have an assortment of small fixed blades coming from a variety of manufacturers and a variety of pocket sheaths. I had totally forgotten about the Street Beat that I had. Last night I got out the Street Beat and gave it a good going over. That is one fantastic little knife. I get a good 4 finger hold on it, great steel, excellent fit and finish, superb micarta scales. I do not think that this knife is going any where now, except in my pocket.
Once the Millie arrives, I will post some pics of my newfound Spydie family. I only wish that they would not have drilled a small hole in the Street Beat, weakening the blade. Perhaps I will get over this obsession, soon.
