ZT 0770CF Blade Centering.. what the hell?!

ok i only have three left that are off.. but here's what i've been looking at. Am I being too picky? I just thought it was odd that every one that was off, was off in the same direction.

I'm gonna go with what Moxy said. Centering might be off due to the fact that the side with the torsion bar has a much smaller washer.

If you're really not happy you can send one my way and I'll get rid of it for ya :D
 
I have some OCD issues myself so I'm asking: I have several ZT knives, 301TSST and it's smaller brother, the 350. I also have the 560 in BW and 2 in regular. Blade centering was never an issue for me or something I would have noticed. I figure if it fits inside the handle then it should be good. I did have to send the 560BW in for warranty because it wasn't flicking open easily and the lock bar felt like a creaky door and hard to move when I unlock it. BUt that came back really nice.

So is the blade centering something related to the function of the knife or is it simply an aesthetic thing? Do you just eyeball it or do you use an inside micrometer to check either side? <and here's hoping I don't latch on to a new obsession>
 
All of the other ZTs I own have perfect blade centering and I love them all.. I love the 0770cf too.. I just went through a bunch until I found some that were perfect. The reason why I have so many is because I was the best man at my friends wedding and I gave these to the groomsmen at the bachelor party.. I may have bought a few extras :p

Are you enjoying the ones you have? Do you regularly carry one?
 
Also @ Rey.. eyeball.. but a micrometer is in my future. I have actual OCD about things being straight and aligned though. I fix pictures on people walls and in restaurants and square papers on desks and stuff like that. I can control it, but it nags me on stuff like knife centering.
 
I have two 0770s for myself. I've carried one a few times and the other is still in the box, but I inspected both thoroughly before I decided to keep them. I recently traded a third one for an 0550blk on the forum, so I've been carrying the 0550 lately. I just bought a caly 3 zdp-189 from the exchange, which I am very impressed with. I will probably use the 0770cf and the Caly as my gentleman carry for a while.

Both of mine are dead center, the aluminum and the CF. I'm loving the carbon fiber and I am a fan of the assisted open.

I'm glad you're enjoying the knife Ajack60. I gave you one of the 0770's that I deemed acceptable for sale/trade on the forums. Those were either centered or just a wee hair off. I wanted to make sure I saved the better knives for forum members. Thanks for the 0550.. i'm still loving it!

Just received my new 0770cf in and the Blade centering is off to the right just as you have described and shown in your photos. My new 0562 was perfect. Dont understand why ZT can’t get these blades centered appropriately before shipping to the customer.
 
I've had several over the years. About half were centered the other half weren't. Sold all of them.

:thumbsup: Thats what I would do as well.

What baffles me honestly of this thread is not ZT 0770 has some centering issue, but that the OP despite the issue would buy again and again and again the same model.:(
