I wish I had known about this knife when it was available. I think it's probably the best looking knife I've ever seen. Does anyone know where you can still buy one? Or the 0777M390?

Are there any other knives that you think rival it in terms of style and design that are more readily available? Post pictures please. Thanks.

Late to the party. I was too. We're SOL, unless you're willing to pay crazy secondary mark up...I'm not.

They still pop up on the exchange here from time to time, averaging about $700 or so.

For comparable styling there is the ZT0770cf, or the ZT0801CF.

ZT0770 is the production version. Not as fancy but readily available.

ZT0777s are only available on the secondary market and be prepared to pay a premium. The damascus ones never come up for say.

Yeah, it's totally a case of "the grass is greener..." for me. While I think the ZT 0770cf is a great looking knife, after seeing the 0777 I just can't get as excited. I wish I had never seen the 0777.

Sorry you missed out. The 0777 is my all time favorite. Unfortunately they are pretty pricey on the secondary market.

Here at the 4 versions that were made:

You're killing me....LOL.

I think the 0888 is also a great looking knife. Still, the 0777 tops them all in my book.

Yeah, I have a secret hookup on the 0777. I keep it a secret until someone asks for one on the general forum, then I reveal my secret sources ;)

Sweet Rasco. I'll take 10 of them for $50 a piece! ;)

Ok seriously, since I probably can't have an 0777, what are some other knife designs that rival the 0777 that are obtainable? This is stupid, I've been bitten bad, and I need to fill this 0777 void in my life now. :shame:

I waited a long time in anticipation for this knife as did many , but in the end it doesn't do much for me.

It looks cool as heck but i it's too thin, lite and to much deflection in the handles for me.

Be ready to pay a huge mark up. You can find the 770 as the production version.
Also the Microtech Matrix is copy of it.

I'm kind of in the same boat. I still have my 777 and don't want to sell it because I lusted after the damn thing for so long, but totally agree.

I have another knife that I think is quite comparable, although it doesn't come close to rivaling the 777 for it's design prowess, but has all the bells and whistles with a more hand filling size. That knife is the Guardian Tactical Helix in Carbon Fiber. It's also readily available and can be had for just a shade over $400 versus closer to $700 for the 0777 in m390.

Best of luck!

Thanks, this is exactly the kind of thing I was looking for. That Guardian Tactical looks like a nice alternative. I will have to check it out.

Do you think it has as the same problems as the 0777 that bigmark mentioned? How about the 0770, does it have the same issues as the 0777?

It's not really a matter of problems, it's more a matter of preferences. I'm a bag fan of the ZT0600, and compared to that knife, the 0777 feels quite dainty. I think the preferences that both myself and bigmark referred to were that of a better hand filling knife which the Guardian Tactical does offer. The 0770 is likely also very light and very thin. Perhaps you will prefer that to a larger and more hefty knife...

Unless it's on your "bucket list" to collect this knive, or this is your "holy grail" of all knives, yeah, you should look for something comparable for a quarter of the price.
Materials, F&F, all that, this knife has a lot of rivals. You are paying a premium for the exclusivity.

Didn't Microtech rip this design, or was it another model? I remember the drama from a year or so ago but am not sure of the model in question.

Yes. The original Matrix was a BLATANT ripoff of the 0777. Then Microtech went back and made some minor tweaks so it's only an obvious ripoff instead of blatant.

That Guardian Tactical looks like a mish mash of the 0777 and the Microtech Socom. Not an original thought in that knife.

The company was started by the previous lead designer and lead CNC machinist of Microtech; hence the obvious influences.
