ZT 0909 Zero Tolerance 0909

Steel weighs more than Ti...

That would be the easy guess...however...My Talos is solid Ti and the ZT is only steel lined with G10 scales. Maybe the backspacer plays into the weight...dunno, my Talos has stand offs. Mind you, it's only an ounce and a half more, but it is still funny to me. Personally, I couldn't care less about the weight of my knives. If it feels like a can of soup in my pocket, however, that's another story.

At over 7 oz. - it is a can of soup indeed.

I am not a real "ounce-counter," but once it's WAY over 5 oz. I usually pass.:thumbdn:

I'm willing to bet the steel liners are nearly as thick as the Ti on the Talos

By can of soup I mean large and unwieldy. For me it was my Rassenti Rapture and my original Hoback War Horse. Weight doesn't bother me, so much as bulk does.

Agreed.

Way too heavy to be considered. A shame really, it is one of ZT's better designs.

Wut.

The 0300 and 0200 are heavier and carry just fine. If it's that much of an issue I'm sure a knife modder could do some weight reduction for you somehow. ;):D

I don't mind that it's going to be heavy, I want one anyway! :-P

Same here; I was against the new designs but the more I see this knife the more I want one...

I understand, I was referencing a specific kind of person who is so inflexible in their weight standards, they miss out of great stuff.

It's okay though because they are usually nutnnumbnuts followers.

I think anyone who has ever carried a 0350/0560/0550 will carry a 0909 just fine. Anyone who ever carried a 0200 or 0300 will wonder if they forgot to put a knife in their pocket.

I like your style... :thumbup::D:cool:

Same here; If the 909 has a slim profile (side to side, which appears to be relatively slim) it should be fine.

For example, I've been toying with the idea of adding a pocket clip to my ontario hossum retribution one but it's just too damn wide especially the palm swells on the scales; kinda like the adamas on steroids. Over an inch wide in pocket is definitely a "can of soup" as you so aptly put it LOL. Let's hope the 909 is pocket friendly.:thumbup::thumbup:

No lie the Espada XL carries better due to thinner width profile.;):foot:

Personally, the portability of an EDC folder is a combination of weight and width + thickness when closed. For instance, 0452CF even with a 4.1" blade is light, thin and narrow. The old 0200 was heavy, thick and wide. 0909 is thinner than 0200 but it could be as wide.

Yup, that is an excellent way of looking at it...:cool:

For comparison...

The VECP is 5.6 oz.
The Shiro is 4.1oz.
The Talos is 6.2 oz.

if weight is an issue the 0452CF and 0804CF both give you a ton of knife for not a lot of weight.

Yup, or the new 0450CF... cannot imagine needing it any lighter than my 0450 is already.

Personally I already ordered the 0909. I cannot wait to start carrying it. I hope my legs don't get too sore the first week with all that weight hahahah.

Backspacer?

The Adamas is the only knife in this pic that outweighs the 0909. 0909 is slim(ish) and carries well, for me. The weight is a non-issue, again, for me. If the weight is an issue for you, you will have issues with this knife.
I love the detent on mine, I have yet to overcome it and not have the blade lock up, even making a concerted effort at doing just that. It doesn't seem too strong to me, but I like a firm detent.

Just got one today. Got home was sitting on my mail shelf. Its a darn nice knife. Weight isnt that bad but i carry large folders so im used to a few ounces more. So far im impressed with the fit, finish and design. Time and real use will tell if im right in the way i see it now.

Zt has released a lot over the last couple years and many have done nothing for me but this one has impressed me.

Mine weighs 6.9 ounces.

It's not going to be good for people who prefer a lighter knife.

My wife tends to relate weight to quality; she handled the 804CF and the 0909 tonight and liked the heavier 0909 - she thought it was better quality because it weighs more.

It's relative to what you like and what you think -

best

If someone could take a photo of the 0909 next to a 0300 I would like to see the size difference. My edc is a 0300 but I would like to have the S35VN.

I really like that they went with the 3/8" pivot on the 909; love the beefy look of it.:cool:

I got one in and it carries way way better than the 030x or the 0200.

It's closest to the 0350 in would think. I don't own one anymore but that's what it reminds me of the most.

Awesome knife.
