ZT 2018 LINEUP

How many knives did they discontinue? 5 at least I think? I bet they have at least 2-3 more in the works.
Edit: Big european ZT shop has the new ones slated for April. Probably mid march for the states then.

ZT discontinued 4 knives last year:

  1. 0804CF
  2. 0900
  3. 0909
  4. 0630

They certainly seem to have room for more new production models this year because normally they announced 5-6 new production models at previous SHOT Shows instead of the 3 this year.

Also, keep in mind that there’ll be the inevitable more discontinued ZTs this year as well as some more Sprints.

I haven’t seen it mentioned but another really awesome feature of the 0393 is that you can swap the clip, pivot And filler tab with hinderer hardware.

For people like me who can’t afford an Xm-18 this is pretty cool.

I wouln't.

I mean yea sure but i doubt they'd have a smaller version of an already not very large knife in the works.

Besides isn't the 0566 pretty much that?

Agree. As much as I may be intrigued to try out a mini 0562, the current size of 0562 seems perfect for many people. ZT 0562/0562cf are also among the most fastly sold knives at the Exchange. The model seems to be a cash cow for KAI, so why mess with it?

The 0450 is also a huge cash cow for them, coming in right at that smaller size. I think the 0562 platform would do well in it as well.

0452 at 4" makes it illegal to carry in many places even if it has many other attractive features. 0450 has all these features but significantly shorter, so it has a definite market, which might not be the case with mini 0562. I mean, how mini should it be? 3" sounds too short. 3.25" would be too close to 0562. Of course these are all my opinions.

2.99" blade length is the legal limit in some jurisdictions. So, 0450 , 0566, etc. just don't cut it.

There are many folders in the 3.00"-3.25" where I think they should be 2.99" to capture a larger segment. Keep the handle length longer just make the blade length 2.99".

There have been a lot more such folders with blade lengths of 2.99" or less the past few years but not from ZT.

Also, when making such small folders don't make them too wide, thick or heavy.

Forgot where I read it, maybe knife news... But they mentioned that zt had four models and pulled the 4th one at the last moment. Anyone guess what it was?

I really wish the copper one was USA made though, same with the Natrix XL.

Indeed. They would’ve really made 0777 proud.

ZT has no KVT in the under $160 price range (0450) and Kershaw has no premium US-made KVT to cover the lower end.

Wouldn't the Bareknuckle be Kershaws USA made KVT on the lower end? (not sure what the street price will be)

Me too, as I've quit buying Chinese Kershaws even though there are some nice ones out there. I'll probably end up getting the Bareknuckle, just wish the steel was a little better.

They really did me wrong. So now I'm less likely to go back to the Chinese made Kershaws. Just so dissatisfied with them all but the natrix pushed me over the edge. USA made only for now on. Not going to fall for it again.

the origional natrix was such a disapointment...

handle is too small, blade was warped, grind was bad...
