ZT 392 craze over? Did the Zero Tolerance 0392PURBLKWC flop?

I've been a longtime ZT fan! A 301ST was one of the first nicer knives I ever purchased about 10 years ago. Although I haven't acquired any of the limited ZT 392 releases, I got swept up in the madness with the first few releases, trying feverishly with my brother on multiple computers to score one to no avail...and wasn't willing to snag one on the secondary at a markup.

Speaking about the most recent rendition, ZT 0392PURBLKWC, it seems that it has flopped as they still have not yet sold out. Has that happened with any of the other releases? I'll admit that I like the color scheme- black/purple is Jimi Hendrix sexy, and the wharncliffe blade looks wicked cool, but I'm not $400 excited about it...you?

Has ZT exhausted the 392 thing? Did anyone grabbed one of these? Thoughts, opinions?..:)

I wonder if 5 other people will want to love them more...

What's next you ask? Same knife with Urine Yellow hardware. Run it's course? Hell no! There's still Neon Pink, then..... . ;)

I would not say a knife that does not sell completely out in the first week of availability is a flop.

The other iterations of this popular series sold out in minutes; this one still has some availability but few are available from what I have seen.

There are many different ZTs that I'd love to see in LEs and I don't think I'm alone. I'm sure the 0392s will sell out eventually but hopefully ZT will take a hint from this: regardless of design, you can't do endless blade, hardware and color swaps and have your fan base lick them up. That only works for Spyderco :p.

Please ZT, give us more LEs of classic models. The recent success of the venerable 0801 LE should illustrate the wisdom of that strategy.

I'm fairly new to ZT, and folders in general, and I bought one because I wanted a 0392...I may acquire an earlier version as well through the exchange or other venue, but regardless, I'm happy with this purchase.

I think what we are seeing is that demand is now down to actual users and not high enough to float flippers. Not a flop but certainly well past mass hysteria.

^ 5 different places/vendors?

1: check out my new LE ZT 0392.
2: oh what? Check out my new LE ZT 0392 only it's green instead of your purple.
3: hey guys. Have you seen my new red LE ZT 0392?
1-2-3: ???

4: just got a new LE bronze Vic. Gonna flip this baby.

It looks beautiful to me. Love the WC and purple accents. Id buy one if it were in the 4oz range. 3.5" blade over 4.5oz (5.6oz)? I wouldn't pay $100 for it.

For reference the 908bk-1501 weights 4.38oz w/ a 3.5" m4 blade. @ only $250.

Actually don't own any ZTs because of their weight. Have considered the 0450cf. Wouldn't mind seeing some LEs in that one.
CF, Stonewashed blade, non-coated titanium, Purple/blue/green/hot pink accents would be awesome.

*edit*
If ZT is reading this please put me down for a 0450CF, stonewashed (s35vn, s90v, 20cv), non-coated titanium, and Hot Pink anodized accents. Thanks! :D

I love the looks of this one. I used to pay $400 for knives, but it is hard to justify now for a folder. I would be all in on one for $250 though.

I fully concur!

This is my sentiment as well. I'm a free-market proponent, and it appears the market is finished with the frenzy over this one.

Great taste and what I'd like to see more of as well! It seems that smaller, more practical EDC urban-carry users are what the market wants currently. :D

About two months ago, ZT released a limited run 0450CFZDP with ZDP-189 steel blade and no DLC on blade or titanium. Standoffs are blue anodized. Some dealers still have some in stock for $240.

I won't consider a knife (no matter how good i may think it looks) unless it meets my EDC criteria. Weight is usually the very top of the list. Weight>blade steel/length/style/profile>handle material.

So many beautiful bricks out there.

I was originally reallllly excited for the 908-161 because the lighting in the pictures made the accents look Hot Pinkish. I was sad to find out they were red. Also the weight is almost 5oz and damascus w/o a core is meh. BUT ever since Iv been craving Hot Pink anodized accents.
Hot Pink accents will have their time soon. :D

Part of the Email that ZT sent out about the 0392puplblkwc..

"Good luck! These Limited Edition ZT & Rick Hinderer Factory Custom knives will go quickly."

ZT might want to go back and edit that statement..:D
