ZT Cardinator

Why does 'hard-use' have to be big, heavy, and 'tank-like'?
Why can't it be light-weight and elegant?
Just my thoughts. The knife looks really good, blade 14 is a looong time to wait. :)

It doesn't have to... OTOH lots of people equate hard use to heavy/tank like, and for a while that was what ZT just was and the elegant knives were sold under the Kershaw label.

I think folks are worried about ZT going from being a brand known for specifically tankish knives... To just being another knife label with a bunch of products.

Beautiful knife! And this..+1. I own Spyderco knives, I don't think I'd ever EDC most of ZT's knives.

NO there are no pre-orders. There is no price, there is no model #, there is no prototype shown yet...

Sorry, didn't mean to cause a stink by asking. I'm still kinda new to a lot of this and honestly just don't know. Maybe someone could explain (simply) the progression of a knife from the "looky what we're gonna make" to the "looky what I just got" phase. Thanks a bunch.

About all you can do is keep checking the forums here and check your favorite dealers sites regularly. Keep asking questions and a little luck you might time it right.

Oh it wasn't directed at you completely just making a statement. Plus text doesn't convey tone of voice lol

Does anyone know what knife is on the catalog underneath the Cardinator? That looks like one beefy flipper.

There are a couple reasons your bound to get some short replies when asking about pre-orders and deadlines. One is that many people confuse ETA (ESTIMATED time of arrival) with deadline. If KAI were to say they are expecting to have a knife hit the market on a particular date people have their pitchforks ready a week beforehand crying foul if the knife isnt on their doorstep on that date. And in Ultra rare cases there are multiple dates given by some well informed people and they are missed due to product changes. Due to some of the issues regarding deliver dates KAI is pretty tight lipped these days about delivery dates. Its simply easier this way. We all would like to know when something will be available so we can arrange funds or plan ahead but I think people tend to over simplify what it takes to get a knife from the CAD program and into a tangible product in sufficient numbers to supply demand.

Now you may be thinking but I didnt ask when it would be released. And your right but pre orders usually wont take place until a release date is either established and getting near. Having a preorder today for a knife that might not make it to market for another year or two usually ends up with at least one or two angry mob threads.

When did the 0560CBCF show up, or the 0600? About a year ago right? When pics are released thats a good time to start looking for pre-orders. I am very curious to see what ZT has in store for us.

Sounds good. I've only been here a few months and one thing I have realized is that you never ever ask about a release date. Guess I jumped the gun a bit with the question. It was meant to be a half @$$ joke, albeit one I wouldn't have minded the answer to. When I asked about the pre- orders for the 777 and the 560CBCF I was told they were about a year or so ago. Just figured I could get one or two in for some cool blades that will be out a year or so from now. I will just keep my eyes peeled for new releases and pre- orders in this forum, which I consider the best place for info anyways.

I'm pretty sure Dimitriy Sinkevich is the owner/designer of Shirogorov. That's why it looks like one.

No, Sinkevich is not Shirogorov, although they do collaborations. Sergey Shirogorov is the owner of Shirogorov (I believe his brother too). Dmitry has his own style, as can be seen in the little touches. Here's one that is a Sinkevich-Shirogorov collaboration, the Tetra, that has a similar blade style and the nice design details that Dmitry is famous for.

I REALLY REALLY hope that BLUE ring remains in their production design!

If I'm not mistaken I think the orange stripe on the blade was removed from the production 0777 unless I'm mistaken.

Looking at the materials, this is going to be one pricey bugger!
