ZT feature wishlist.

Whilst we're dreaming, how about a ZT balisong. Not something for doing twirly tricks with, but a practical hard-use design that takes advantage of the inherent strength of the balisong structure. Something like a Marlowe Badger, but with a flat ground blade in a good modern steel.

Well, since we're dreaming how about a ZT karambit with an Emerson wave? There are custom karambits with premium steels, but the best production folding karambits don't have premium powdered steels (except for an upcoming Spyderco with VG10 that's ugly as the dickens).

A subframe lock ZT with G10 scales.

Tan and green G10 0350's and 0200's.

Maybe try Cerakote on the titanium side of your framelocks to match the scales as an option.

I'd love to see a 3.5" Speedsafe spanto subframe lock knife with 3D G10 scales (preferrably tan) in the "tactical" flavor. Flipper, deep carry, and make the lock thick abd tough. Maybe some tiger striping too.

A 0200 with bead blasted cf scales (the texture when the epoxy is worn away just leaving the solid stuff is amazing) stone wash/black wash finish and a blade of k390 steel at 62 hrc

They tried something like that, and it was a nightmare. I doubt Kai USA will ever have another BF piece, and I don't blame them.

yes that was quite the fecal storm. And my idea would add even more variables to make even a bigger storm. Still i was thinking out loud in hypothetical terms. Albeit very unlikely terms.

This is a link to what I think was the only flat-ground Badger ever made. It appeared for sale a couple of years ago and I was sorely tempted, but couldn't bring myself to spend $1500 on a 154CM blade. A production knife inspired by this with an Elmax or perhaps 3V blade would be killer. I'm sure ZT would do a great job. But while we're at it, why not design a balisong with a sturdy wire latch that goes around the outside of the handle, so you can reduce the handle/blade length ratio?

I would like to see them do a "customization" program.

Custom scales, custom clips, alternate styling for easily replaceable parts etc.

A custom shop would be cool - for example. You can order a custom shop 560, with choice of scale patterns/materials, choice of 3d machining pattern, choice of blade finish options, choice of frame finish options, choice of pocket clip finish options.

Something like that.

Just an idea, not sure it would be a profitable deal for ZT.

I think it would be awesome. Similar to how hinderer offers dress up parts for his knives. I would love to see ZT get into custom accessories. Like LSCF inserts for the 0600.

That was my idea in my similar thread last year :p

I have some sanded/sculpted and then sandblasted G10 scales to create texture. Would bead-blasted be something like that? If so, I agree, it's sort of shiny but still very grippy.

You mean like the create-a-grip on the Benchmade site?? I've always thought that was cool.

This is what I was thinking about the time I was reading it. I'm not sure on the "profitability" of it, but it would be awesome to see something like that go up. The materials would be more higher-end than what Benchmade uses.

That's a beautiful knife, Brummie. If only balisongs weren't specifically illegal in so many places...

A slim narrow profile 3" flipper with a beefy blade. Flipper action like the current 0801 and profile like the 0600 or 0454. All titanium or all carbon fiber scales would be dandy.

This is kind of what I'm looking for from ZT with perhaps CF scales and a flipper or push-button:

The Fällkniven GP with Laminated CoS blade (60 HRC) that is 3" long and 0.12" thick -- has the looks plus it's a mini-beast!

Not quite. The difference between cf and g10 is cf is woven while g10 is layered. When the cf is made it is made in a flat press so there are "voids" where there is only epoxy and no soaked fibers which are inherently stronger. When blasted the voids are removed and you have a layered surface that is compare to the Hinderer frag pattern. If you want to see it go on YouTube and look up gavkoo its on his CPM s125vn knife
