ZT0392. Bought to use or to make a profit? Check the For Sale section, it's sad.

When someone has major butthurt about what someone else does with his knife that he bought with his money, it really says more about Mr. Butthurt than it does the knife owner. This isn't really about selling knives on the secondary market. Its about envy and an entitlement mentality.

Completely disagree with the "butthurt" and "envy" accusation. I am not a native English speaker but I think you can call this a "fallacy".

This is about criticizing behavior and/or company production policy.

ZT could put out a LE shaped like a dog turd. As long as it was titanium and super steel people would be stepping over each other to buy it. Don't blame the flippers, blame the blind following the company now has.

What powernoodle and poolhustler said. :)

For the complainers: Would you rather have the government regulate (and subsidize) knife prices? I'm sure the prices will go down and the quality will go up when Obama gets involved.

LOL...Great!!!

Again: that someone is critical of a company's production policy says nothing about how they feel about free-market capitalism, suggesting otherwise is a fallacy.

Hahaha hahaha hahaha haha hahaha hahaha hahah. That's rich.

Please please please please please show me where I can buy a Terzuola for a couple hundred less than current 0888 pricing....

I bought my one-off ATCF for $1100 a couple months ago, and there was a Ti ATCF in the exchange not too long ago for a little less than $1000. Century Starfighters and TTFs will go for less than that.

They regularly come up for sale for less than an 0888...

Why does anyone have to blame anybody?

Blame ZT for not making enough quantity of LE knives? Well, that would make them that much less of a LIMITED EDITION now, wouldn't it? You don't like ZT for their marketing ploys? You don't have to buy any of their products.

Blame the flippers? Guess what? If there weren't people willing to pay exorbitant prices on the secondary market, there wouldn't be any flippers. It's free market capitalism at its best. Has anybody here successfully attempted to be in the IPO of a company on the main boards? It's even more impossible than getting one of ZT's LE knives. And if you're one who has been a primary buyer of an IPO, then you're probably one of those paying the exorbitant prices for a ZT LE knife on the secondary market but I doubt you're complaining.

Blame the secondary market buyers? Why would it be anybody's business what someone legally does with their resources? I can complain too that since I want a Maserati, I could afford one if everybody who buys one would quit paying the inflated asking prices. But I'm not complaining because that's just how life is. As people mentioned before, it's just a knife.

1) Don't like it? Don't buy it. Word on the street is that there are other knives for sale that are readily available and at reasonable price.

2) IBTL.

"Screwed" is a state of mind. No one buying a knife on the secondary market is getting screwed, because every single one of them wants to do it. And when someone wants to do something, it can hardly be said that they are screwed. A person is screwed only when he wants to do something and cannot, or is forced to do something he would like to avoid. Secondary buyers don't fall into either category because they are acting in concert with their desires.

I have no problem whatsoever when someone makes money by flipping a knife. That is exactly what vendors are doing too - buying from a 3rd party, raising the price, and selling it. Everyone is free to 1) pay close attention and buy limited edition knives while they are still available, 2) buy to flip, 3) buy from a flipper or 4) none of the foregoing. Laissez faire baby!

I agree and disagree.

You are 100% correct in that it is a choice to buy or to not buy. At the same time, the option of buying at the retail price is being taken from people by others who have no desire to actually own the knife. They have to pay more for the thing they desire...

Or, of course, learn to let it go.

My post is completely without butthurt. I wouldn't mind having a 0392, but I don't need one.

My position is simply disappointment that this is a thing that keeps happening. In an impossible, utopian situation, people would let enthusiasts buy these. I believe in capitalism, but I also advocate for being a good fellow man.

Ah, so an BF we cannot discuss anything we don't like?

People also have to realize that just because a Limited Edition has come and gone, it doesn't mean the knife is gone for good. For example, the ZT0454 now has a production model in the form of the ZT0452. Even the ZT0777 had a similar production knife in the form of the ZT0770.

I wouldn't be surprised if the ZT0392 comes out in another form.

You know, I want an original Scagel as my EDC, and these no good flippers and collectors have driven the price so high, and made the availability so low, that I just can't do it! How sad is that, right!?!

Ah, so an BF we cannot discuss anything we don't like?

I believe we are discussing. Might be wrong .. haven't had my coffee yet.

But it does appear we cannot discuss it without bringing politics and name calling in it. :(

I bought an 0392 with the intent to use it, however, I have yet to do so and not ever. I'm not sure why; I've had no trouble using more expensive blades such as Striders and Hinderers, but I suppose it's the exclusivity of the 0392. It's such a solid knife that it begs to be used, and it will hide wear incredible well with use. I don't know. If I can't bring myself to use it I suppose I will eventually sell it.

Ah, so an BF we cannot discuss anything we don't like?

Of course they can. People just need to find a better way to express their opinion. Incessant whining and complaining does not a discussion make. As soon as personal jabs and barbs start being laid down the discussion aspect ends.
