ZT0550 in ELMAX ???

Hi, one of the Czech knifenuts got Zero Tolerance ZT0550 in Elmax steel... The distributor had two of these knives.

Are some of ZT0550 made from Elmax or is it just a fault caused during assembling the knives in KAI factory? First I thought, that someone unintentionally put 551´s blade into 550´s handle but then I noticed, that the blade is really marked ZT0550 and ELMAX steel. And the serial number is 0686, which is quite high.

Now I believe, that the blade could be either Elmax or S35VN, but one of the laser etched marks is wrong (Elmax or ZT0550).

I was told that KAI produced more Elmax blades than 551 handles but I don´t know anything specific about it. Is it possible that these "spare" Elmax blades weren´t destroyed and used with 550 handles to create unique ZT0550?

Does anyone know anything else, has anyone of you seen such a ZT0550? Thanks for your answers in forward!

Man oh man I would really love to get one of those. I finally established my 561 fund and now I' see this bad boy. Lol hook me up Thomas?

A handful (don't know the exact amount) of 0550's were mistakenly done up with ELMAX blades. They are legit, and not a laser mistake.

These will probably be highly collectible. In time they will be worth a lot more than the standard issue.
 
I managed to get one of these! It was a fluke, but I'm glad to know that it was a good thing! It is ser: 0709, if that helps anyone. :D
