ZT0550 in ELMAX ???

Yes, I bought it at a store in Texas. I got home and saw the Elmax engraving, so I figured I'd check it out here.

Hey guys, new to the forum...

Just got in a 550 on Tuesday, and it too is marked "ELMAX". The serial number is 0776. I wasn't sure what to think, and don't have anything S35VN to compare appearances against... At least I now know the marking is legit.
 
I just got one of these last week that I had a dealer order ser.# 0715; Would love concrete number of how many got out and what they might be worth
 
I would bet there is at least 3 out there and they're worth at least $200.

On a side note, a lot of first time posters in this thread. Welcome :thumbup:
 
I actually found this site cuz I was looking for answers since I knew it was supposed to be S35vn and was kind of puzzled seeing ElMax etched on the blade

Guys that found the elmax versions, would any of you be so kind as to email me where you found them, I think I might like to get one of these.
 
I had my local knife guy order my 0550 from his wholesaler for me but it isnt something you can ask for since it isnt supposed to have an ELMAX blade, I just got lucky

I'm guessing Thomas's answer in post #13 - "like 170 or some such number" is the closest you will get to a concrete number as they were not planned production is my understanding. As to what it is worth, it is worth whatever you can get someone to pay for it. Personally, even though I would love one, I would not pay more than what a standard 0550 costs. However, my guess is a good starting point would be whatever 0551s, since they also have Elmax and were a limited sprint run, are going for in the open market. Your Elmax 0550 might be worth a little more to someone because of it smaller number and uniqueness, but it is basically a 0551 with 0550 scales. How much more I couldn't guess. However, no matter what you would ask for it, you might find someone to pay it if you wait long enough.
 
So in order to not carry my ELMAX 0550 I just picked up an 0350 and 0400 today and have an 0551 on the way.........ugh at this rate my knife dealer is gonna make me go broke :(
 
Looks like so far these Elmax 0550s are in the 686-776 serial number range. I wonder if all of the knives in this serial range have Elmax blades since there were 113 of them, according to Thomas?
 
You all are killing me I just started getting more interested in knives (and posting on here ) and after catching hell for my 560 I just bought and soon to get busted for a 561, you all dangle info like this in front of me.
I highly doubt there is one of these floating around my area but rest assure I'll be checking and buying if so.
