I've been as stoked as anyone about the ZT0560/0561 from the moment they were announced. They are now for sale, offered in lots of places, but out of stock.
They're also being offered for sale here on BF, but for prices way above retail. Is their scarceness the only reason for these inflated prices or is there another reason I'm unaware of?

Rarity and demand are a driving force in prices for almost anything. So being that the knife is sold out everywhere makes it rare (even when its production) and many people want it so its gonna push the price up. Even the ZT301 is sometimes hard to get driving the price up even though its been out for years.

MSRP is $325 but dealers rarely sell at MSRP. Street price is closer to $260.

As was said before. Supply and demand. Selling something for what the market will bare is the seller's decision. If no one would buy them for $400, people would stop asking that much, but I doubt that's going to happen. If you want to get an in demand knife that's either new or limited for a low price, pay attention and order one early. It's not THAT hard.

Have to work for good deals...

Some people will pay more to have it first. Personally, I've never been an early adopter so I'm content to wait.

No one is entitled to a certain price for any knife. The market price is set by what buyers are willing to pay. It is very simple if you think the price is unfair do not pay it. No one needs a $300 knife so to say a seller is price gouging is very simplistic. It's all about want. Do you want a ZT560 enough to pay the market price?

Even at $260, for me its way too spendy for what you are getting.

As for people selling them for whatever the market will bear, I've got no problem with that. Its certainly not "price gouging" in the traditional sense, which applies to necessities like food and water after a natural disaster. A spendy knife hardly falls into that category. And it is "greed"? I don't know how its greedy to sell something for what the market says its "worth". JMO.

Hmm curious about this. It's got Elmax, both sides are 3D machined, it's got a titanium framelock, KVT pivot, and it's based on an excellent Hinderer design. Why would that be considered overpriced at $260?

It makes NO sense to criticize people who buy or sell an item for a high price. Why do people sell a production knife like the 0560 for over street price? Because people buy it at that price. Why do people buy at that price? Because they fricken want to and we get to buy what we want. If a person buys a new ZT0560 for 260 + shipping and sells for 330 wow he made $30.00 after shipping on one knife, let's get mad at him for making money and call it greed. I bet that savvy Mr. money bags investor is going to retire now that he has made such a big profit on his 0560. :) People complain because they want one at a lower price and there are none available in their budget. That's just life. I want a nicer house and a Ferrari but I can't afford them. I don't see anyone crying for me, or getting pissed at the exotic auto dealer charging the high price. The market will always rise and fall. If you want a 0560 at a lower price, play the waiting game and keep watching the boards I am sure like everything else it will settle down......... Maybe?

People who are calling that profiteering or price gouging do not know what those terms mean.
