ZT0560 prices: what am I missing?

Think that is bad..... Try looking for a Hinderer. Resale prices completely outpace the value of the product but people will continue to buy them and dealers will continue to raise the prices. Painful but it is supply and demand. This is exactly why I don't support hinder products but will continue to buy fixed price knives such as Chris Reeve.

Im just gonna wait it out till production catches up. Then they should come down closer to the $260 mark. Thank god the 0560 is production and not a sprint run

MSRP is $325 but dealers rarely sell at MSRP. Street price is closer to $260.

As was said before. Supply and demand. Selling something for what the market will bare is the seller's decision....

Have to work for good deals...

No one is entitled to a certain price for any knife. The market price is set by what buyers are willing to pay. It is very simple if you think the price is unfair do not pay it. ...

It makes NO sense to criticize people who buy or sell an item for a high price. Why do people sell a production knife like the 0560 for over street price? Because people buy it at that price. ...

Of course people will sell at above market price if people will pay. There's no question about that. Whether it's fair or not is not an issue here. The OP asked why people are selling at a premium.

The answer to why people sell at a premium, whether it's fair or not, whether people are willing to pay or not, is always because they want to make a profit from buying low and selling high. Nobody is complaining about the prices. The OP is just asking why.

Getting back the the OP's question of why people are wanting to make a profit, the answer is obviously greed. Plain and simple. If somebody wants to make a profit from a scarcity, it makes no sense to object when people call him greedy. He can't be selling that scarce item out of altruistic motives. The only reason he is selling high is to make a profit. We should be honest about that. The profiteer should just accept the tag and sell it at the price that the market will bear.

If you somebody wants to make a profit, go ahead make a profit. But don't make excuses. Let's call a spade a spade.

This isn't the first knife that has seen such a cycle. Some day we will be seeing offerings in the exchange at less than MAAP.

Even dealers are doing this, I saw a post by a dealer who was selling at $325 or $350 while there was a high demand and planned on lowering to Maap in a month or two, I also saw one website with a 561 priced at $650.

I guess this is one of the reaons ZT do not want to release anything new for a while, running on memory here that I think I geard in a video, and just focus on supplying their retailers and getting more product out.

Either way, I am patient and will get one in future.

Still, when a retailer is selling above the MAP price. thats sneaky!! I can understand a individual doing it as they have more incentive or with customs or Hinderers. but a ZT.....

Oh any any JACK Nut that tries selling this for the price of a freaking actual hinderer, 650, should be committed. I have seen them posted as high as $395 elsewhere.

Until the supply catches up with demand, you might not see any at the $260 mark for a while. I'll remain patient and wait until I can get my 0561 for $260 (or darn close). Until then I won't buy it. Just my simple thought process. Now if they were limited, I could only hope to grab one ASAP before the price skyrockets. Kinda missed the boat on a CF Manix2 as an example, and cannot see paying some of the $400+ prices right now, you know?

Do you guys even know what MAP pricing is? Dealers can charge whatever the hell they want.

Not whenever they want. They change it because the price of materials go up and so do their machining and production costs. They need to remain profitable so that you, I, and the rest of the people on BF can have these products. If they can't raise prices to cover their costs they'd be out of business and we'd have no knives.

The point of Minimum Advertised Pricing is so dealers can't undercut each other and force people to sell at virtually no profit.

MAP just means that they can't sell BELOW that price. They can charge however much above that they want.

I heard in a yt vid that kershaw mike said they will be doing more 560's in different variations, like tiger stripe.
I suggest don't buy one unless its a good price and you need it. Otherwise wait and better ones will be out eventually.

I think it's absurd people calling it greed that sellers are buying low and selling high. Times are very tough right now for a lot of people, and if it takes buying and selling some stuff over the internet to make up the difference in their families budget for the higher gas or food prices, How in the heck is that greed? I work in construction, and during the winter a lot of people in my profession get laid off. I didn't, but I wouldn't have been against buying a dozen 0560s on preorder and then selling them to make a little extra money. That isn't greed..

At least one of you gets it.

Definition of GREED

: a selfish and excessive desire for more of something (as money) than is needed.

Asking for what the market will bear seems to be an excessive desire for money. Therefore greed, no?
