MUDBUCKET!!!!!!

Well, well, well. Here we go.

I spend time in the woods and in the river, so, my folders have to stand up to mud, silt, and sand. With the new KVT system in the 0561, it brings into question, Will the ball bearings stand up to getting dunked in a muddy bucket? Will it open? Will it lock? WILL IT FUNCTION AT ALL!?!?!?!

Well, ta hell with guessing, lets find out.

Standard issue equipment used: bucket, mud, water, stick, ZT0561

Since we've had rain here the last few days, getting the mud, silt and water was easy. I use the stick to mix up the muck, as I want as much free floating media in the water as I can get.

Here's what it looks like at the bottom after a good mix up. Yeah, that looks good. See the stones and silt there?

Ok, here we go, slop is all mixed up, and in goes the 0561.

And there it is. Resting somewhere in the abyss, waiting to be retrieved, is my badass 0561. I let it sit for around 5 minutes, and let all the stuff settle on the knife.

Reaching in to retrieve my knife.

And here is what this fella looks like, straight out of the water.

DOES IT WORK!?!?!?!

You bet your ass it does.

I repeated the same procedure again, just to make sure.

And just giving it a rinse, before I dried it off, and put it in my pocket. I'll take it apart and detail clean it later, but just because I want to see the innards, just that rinse under the tap, was enough to CLEAN all of the muck out.

Thanks for watching, more to come.

It's kind of like watching slow motion in a movie as a bullet flies at the good guy and you just want to shout NOOOOOoooo!! And then everything is okay in the end because the good guy is a total bad ass.. and yes, I'm saying the 0561 is a total badass!

+1

Definitely an awesome video!!

awesome moose. thats good to know. Now what i really wanna see is you put on a snorkel, stick your face in, and find it. Thats how it would happen in a mucky runoff area right?

Awesome Moose! Thanks for subjecting your 560 to that for us! Did it feel gritty?

Yeah, you can hear the grit and stuff moving or being move when you open it, but it doesn't Hinderer it at all. :D Couldn't resist.

It works just fine, lock bar engages fully, blade swings out, the whole gambit. There was even some large clumps "mashed" into the back of the knife, that I had to swipe with a brush, once I found it. :D

Nope, the 0561 passed the Mudbucket Test 100% with no fails and no flaws.

If you don't mind, I'll just take your word for that. No matter how badass I know my ZT0561 is, I will still never intentionally subject it to such cruelty as you have sir. There has to be a law against this...

That is a great test though and much respect to you for doing it and ZT for making a knife capable of doing it!

You are most welcome.

I would like to interject, I don't think that this is cruel, though I value your opinion on the matter.

I actually consider this, the most "worldly" test that I conduct, with real world values, and a much more "realistic" test than say, hanging weights off the end while its in a vice, or batonning it through a log.

Mostly, because there has been more than one occasion, where I've had as much or more mud packed into my knife, while it was in my pocket. I always have a knife with me in the outdoors, and most times, its a large fixed blade, and my folder. Since I'm simply in love with this knife, I can see it being with me on just one of those occasions.

Once again, thank you for the respect.

Were you wearing a hockey mask during the test? :p:D

Good show Moose:thumbup:

What happened ? I had my eyes closed. I think I'll take all my Kershaws out of the safe and dunk them in a Mud-bucket. Yeah right !!

Did you need to disassemble to clean it at the end?

Nope, ran it under a tap in the sink, dried it, put it in my pocket.

Still there actually.

There's really nothing to for anything to get caught on. The action is still buttery smooth. No grinding, nothing. A detailed cleaning wasn't needed. I will eventually, maybe tomorrow. I'll take pics so we can see if there were any deposits left, but I don't think so.
