I have just pulled the trigger on my first Emerson/ZT collaboration and am anxious to hear your thoughts and experiences...

Thanks for any and all input! ;)

I just got mine yesterday. I haven't had a chance to use it yet so I can't comment on its cutting abilities. Fit & finish is perfect, action is smooth, blade is centered, 40% lockup, and the wave feature works well. I also like the high grind on it. Looks like it will be a good slicer. I changed the clip to the other side and have it set up for right front pocket carry, reverse grip draw.

I've had mine for a few days. It's my first ZT and I'm extremely impressed. Solid, smooth, centered, & sharp. Very few knives I've had were as well put together as this one. It cuts what I use a big knife to cut as well or better than most. I've done some light prying for giggles (wanted to see if ZT's were as badass as everyone says) and the tip held up fine. It has a thick stout tip but it's still fairly usable for smaller tasks. I won't say you can do fine precision work with it because I don't know. I carry other knives for that. Ergos and fit and finish are excellent. Overall it seems to be worth every penny I spent on it.

Great input guys - I am glad to hear that you are all happy with your own purchases of the ZT0630.

Looks good and I can hardly wait to (literally) get my hands on mine... :)

Cheers!

Ben

Shameless bump as I still really want to hear your experiences with this knife... ;)

Thanks!

Ben

Im still on the fence. I think part of me is trying to hold out for a cts 204p version. S35VN is no slouch but with all of the shot show announced models already out (exception being the new rexford) i really think we will see an a bunch of limited runs of popular ZT folders. If i do get a new knife...... this will be it. Unless a ZT/Emerson bowie comes out. One can dream right?

I just got the 0620, which apart from the blade design is pretty much identical in construction. As others said, it's extremely well built. I own several ZT's and this is easily up there with the 0300 in how solid it feels in hand.

Some quick pics I took:

While I thought the 0620 was a beauty, it was too much of a porker for me...just too heavy and not lively in hand.

How does this one feel?

Haha do you have a "no fat chicks" shirt?

I have an 0620 on it's way to me. I'll let you know what I think later in the week. Basically the same knife.

Nah...I love curves! :D

One of the things I love about my Emersons is that they are so lively in hand. My Persian and Gentleman Jim make me feel like Bruce Lee. ;) :D

The ZT0620 and ZT0630 share the same handle. Their weight is almost identical.

ZT0630
Weight: 6.3 oz. (178.6 g)

ZT0620 (G10)
Weight: 6.4 oz. (181.4 g)

Just for posterity's sake. Here's my ZT0620. It's a great knife. The action is extremely smooth and it has great ergonomics.

I gotta agree. Besides the obvious sameness of the handles, which I really like on both my 0620 and 0630, and very close weight and ergos (it is really not a huge difference in blade shape, even), I think any preference for the feel of one over the other is in the users mind (not hand). :) Like I said, I like both and would not know which one I had in my hand if I was blindfolded. I also like my Emerson's. The Emerson Emersons are a bit lighter than the ZT Emersons, and have a variety of handles, so those specific handle differences definitely feel, uh, different. I can see both weight and shape accounting for differences in feel, but all of these have great ergos to me. Emerson designs just work, IMO.

i ordered my 0630 on friday and should be here tomorrow...ive owned both versions of the horseman (mini and fullsize) and love the blade shape but dont like the grind. This will be prolly my backup blade if needed...GAME ON!

Yes, I would definitely go for this over the CQC-8 too, because of the grind.

I am wishing that I would have waited and got the 0630 over the 0620 though.

I am bumping this as I did a search to find it. Just not a lot of chatter about the 620 and 630. I love them both but more partial to my 630 because it is new to me. Great knife with a good feel and incredible fit and finish. I am also amazed by how freaking sharp the 630's came out of the box. ZT has a magical gift with S35!

Great blade. Takes a little to work in the detent, but the wave works great.
