I say quiet because some of the other new offerings seem to be getting more press here at BF. Although I have seen a few threads on the 801 lately, so maybe it is coming out.

This was a knife I wasn't sure I wanted, but since getting one about 6 weeks ago it has gotten more pocket time than any of my other's. I have even thought about getting a second one, and I am in line for the coming LE 801CF.

I have read about the problems with Elmax steel, but have not noticed any with mine. I don't really have the need to use the knife hard so that is probably a factor, but it came with a nice hair popping edge and has kept that edge for what little cutting I've used it for.

I've always been a Sebenza fan and have had a few over the years. To me the 801 has all the things that I would have loved the Sebenza to have, a thicker blade,.125" for the Sebenza vs. .157" for the 801. A heftier feel with the Sebenza at 4.7 ounces and the 801 at 5.8 ounces. And a foldover deep pocket clip for the 801. Not a lot of things, but the differences between the two are in the areas that appeal to me the most.

I am really excited about the 801CF and am at the top of the list to get one. So speak up 801 owners and put your opinions, good/bad, here.:)

My favorite ZT production folder and one of the best flipper actions on the market regardless of price. A total package that looks good on the range or in a business suit. Astonishing that it can be had for under $200!

I think the 801 got it's pop a few weeks ago. Tons of videos on YouTube, quite a few threads, lots of people picking it over the spyderco domino.

Bladeforums is a 'what have you done for me lately' type of place though (see the threads complaining about usa made kershaws when 3 models came out last year) and the 801 is being over shadowed by the 0777 now.

I feel like this is the only knife i've talked about lately, and it is deffinatley getting a lot of attention which is cool. I knew nothing about this model before I picked one up at my local gun show about 3 weeks ago now Let me tell you the seller had just about EVERYTHING I've never got to see in person. It caught my eye, it was rock solid and smooth as butter, oh yea and solid titanium! I couldn't resist and I have no regrets. Its perfect for my needs.

I absolutely love my 0801 and can't wait for my 0801CF to show up.

The design of the 801 looks great, although it is a little heavy for the size of the blade. ELMAX's performance in this knife appears to be its only major draw back. I have not yet seen a video that refutes the cutting tests performed by Jdavis, which shows the knife dulling quickly (and faster than S30V) after cutting fairly abrasive materials. It's also been somewhat sad to see KAI's rep try to compensate for this on the forums by accusing people of flaming and offering boilerplate, conclusory assurances that the "problems been taken care of" [hint: try posting performance videos like Benchmade/Cold Steel or engaging the community with

I'd love to pick up a CF 801 in M390, but sadly, they appear sold out already.

quality looks as good as everything ZT but the design doesn't really appeal to me. That has been the case with most of the new ones. They came REALLY close with the 600, but i can't do recurve :(

Still looking for my next ZT knife

It's my favorite ZT yet.It has the 2nd best flipping action I've ever had.Second only to a Todd Begg custom.

Have you tried Elmax for yourself?

No... but but but I saw videos on youtube and even though I have no reference point against other steels, that's enough for me. Then I saw that guy do the video of Elmax vs S30v and the s30v held it's edge marginally better and even though the Elmax was easier to resharpen, we all know that outright edge retention is all that matters.

I would likely have not have complained if you used S30V as the blade but because you used a steel with similar performance and a different name, I'M NOT HAPPY!!!

I wouldn't call it quiet. Out of the new ZTs I've probably seen it the most. However the 566 did just start to ship.....

You should put <sarcasm> </sarcasm> tags around your post. :p

I just picked up an 0801 this week and it is a great knife, but I also have a Domino. The Domino is is much better as an EDC,and cuts much better as for edge retention time will tell. Here is a pic to see them side by side.
