ZT562 vs 566

I am trying to decide between the two. I had a 561 that I gave to my brother. I really miss that knife, but it was a tad big for me on a day to day basis. Right now, I am carrying a BM Rift. I really like it a lot, and I am in no rush to replace it, but the bug has bitten me.

Can anyone compare the two zt knives? I know there is a 1/4 inch difference. One looks just like a smaller version of the 561.

Pros and cons that make one better than another?

Thanks

I don't have any experience with the 562, but I have a 566 in my EDC rotation. It's currently the only ~$100 knife I carry with any regularity. The size is perfect, weight is acceptable, and I have zero concerns about durability riding in my pocket with keys or whatever else.

My only complaint is that, even after hundreds of flips, my 566 is inconsistent where ease of opening is concerned. It seems to have a "sweet spot" on the flipper that I don't necessarily hit if not actually thinking about it. I read a tip about using the not-really-thumb-stud in conjunction with the flipper, which has proven a major improvement but doesn't really fix anything.

Regardless, I like it a lot.

The 566 is assisted and smaller. I have both. Individual detent issues can effect the knife. The 566 is generally cheaper unless you get the m390 version.

I really like the 562. I have the 770 which I prefer over the 566.

Side by side. Both in CF the 562 is purple anodized. Forgot, another difference is the 562 is Titanium and the 566 steel.

I have a 0562 and am very impressed with it, I carry it a lot more often than my 0561. I don't have a 0566 so really can't compare, but the the 0562 is an awesome EDC folder IMO.
For lighter and assisted my 0770 is very nice, but very different in the sense that it is very slim and light.

Have you ruled out the 770?

Both assisted but the 566 is 5.1 Oz. And the 770 is 3.1 Oz. Similar blade but 770 is a liner lock. Both sides carbon fiber. I like it a lot more than my 566.

I have not ruled out anything. I really don't need another knife, but I am missing my zt. I just thought the mini561 looked good, then I saw the other one, now I am finding more and thinking I should never have opened this box.

I've been carrying 0566 for several months now and I couldn't be happier. I'm probably about to pull the trigger on a 0562 just cause I really want it lol.

Quick semi related question; when I was first looking at knives like this, there was a company making nice knives in this category out of China or maybe russia. Overall they were getting good reviews. I can still picture the knives, but can not think of their name.

Can anyone help me out on that?

Thanks

I have both and really the 562 is on another level for me ,extremely smooth open/close ,slides in the pocket really nice, upgraded pocket clip, with hardened interface insert on the lock bar, very comfortable in the hand ,just like the looks of the knife more-the 566 is a real nice budget zt .I guess if I am going to carry a +5 oz. knife in my pocket it has to be something I really like

How does the 560 compare to the 562 in terms of carry? Is it a noticeable difference in the pocket?

The 560 is a big knife. The handle configuration makes it a fatter knife as well. If you want a lot of knife the 560 is the way to go. The 560 is also set up for thumb stud deployment. I use my 560 as a neck knife when walking.

I prefer the 562 for pocket carry.

Thanks. I really enjoyed my 561, but my brother needed a knife and had been coveting mine for some time. I miss it, but having replaced it with the Rift, I realize it was a little larger in the pocket than I care for.

Mike, you must have a neck of steel!

I have both and like everyone else said, the 0566 is gonna be a lot smaller. I love both of them but I find myself carrying the 0566 more (mostly because my 0562cf is a safe queen). But a plus with the 0566 is that you can de-assist it. After de-assisting mine I found that it's one of the smoothest flippers I've ever handled. The only thing that bothers me with the knife is that the lockbar is really small and stiff and cuts into my thumb a lot. That being said, you can't go wrong either way.
