Wow, street price $290 for the 0100 and $240 for the 121.

For $20 more I could get a Chris Reeve 7" Green Beret!

What's going on??

I've always wondered how ZT's fixed blades were. They don't look half bad and recently wanted that ZT-9 Bayonet, has a nice chunk of s30v :D.

the quality has been there as well as the excellent customer service they provide... im not saying i agree with the recent price hikes but with the success of the 0560 the ZT name has really got out there. it makes sense from a marketing/financial stand point

Exactly. I have used and tried dozens of folders for duty and off duty carry. By far the ZT0350TS is the best I have used in my almost 40 year career. When something is that good, price is secondary.

I really like the look and feel of the 121. Perfect fit for my hand. But if I'm spending that much I'm getting a 561...first.

I realize that but with those prices hey are in the high end production/ semi-custom zone!
The 0100 has 3-D machined G-10, a chunk of 3V, and a high dollar sheath. How much should it cost? I would consider that high end production. Am I missing something here?

second what Thomas said. I consider ZT folders high end production knives and though i don't own any of their fixed blades i would bet the quality is similar. My 0550 is comparable in quality to a sebenza.

Ok I'll play. I dont really consider cnc fabricated g10 high end. Robots don't get tired ;) Gerber has the Yari II (3-D machined scales, a chunk of S30v, Molle sheath system, made in USA) for half the price of the 0100. Am I missing something here?

(all in good fun my friend, just some spirited discussion)

I've held/handled the ZT100, felt great in hand I like the blade length and shape as well as sheath, the only reason I don't have one is the recurve.

sir, please correct me if Im wrong but a K.A.I owned company should have less manufacturing costs per knife than a smaller shop like chris reeve is using. i would also assume mr reeve has alot more of a hands on production process than ZT with the inspection and handle fitting etc....i do understand you have some expensive machining processes and materials. ( bulk prices on materials? that could change your cost )and Im sure your not trying to screw a customer with an unfair price. but in my mind a big factory should not compete with a small location for prices. that is what i would guess or assume. im not saying any of this is fact! just how i would think the industry would work. now can you fill me in on the behind the scenes if possible.

i dont mean to disrespect you.and Im not bashing you or the products or calling you a liar Im a big fan! i just would expect a more competative price from a bigger company

i also don't mean to direct compare ZT to chris reeves knife as in quality or who have the better knife. just in production cost and process of production

ZT has MAPP pricing, always has to my knowledge. I have always wondered why I constantly see people complain about Benchmade charging MAPP pricing, though there are many stores that sell for less, but no one has the same complaint of ZT? There might be a store that sells ZT below MAPP pricing but I have never seen it. The prices look the same across the board when I look at all the main online retailers.

Not a complaint really, just an observation.

I think ZTs were fairly priced specially the more affordable models(200,30X,350) before the price increase, but now the 0300 goes for around $270 street instead of the $220-40(or even less) price mark.

I still think there are good deals with ZT, i.e. the Tilt was fairly priced at $220 street and I also think the 056X is worth it. I will probably keep on buying the limited edition(777,0560CF) knives and perhaps some other but I am certainly not as tempted to pick up another 0301 or 0200 at the current prices.

With any company when the prices increase, don't expect them to ever go down again. The 030X series is still a good price considering what you get.

Yeah, the 030X series is awesome I've owned 3 and currently only have a 0302. I'll probably buy another 0302 when it gets re-released, but the current prices are keeping me from buying another 0350. It just seems the price increase was a bit drastic since the 0350 was selling for $85 at amazon not too long ago and now the cheapest one online is $120.

Hmm, I've never seen a 0350 sell for that anywhere except maybe wholesalers prices. I bought my first one used, but it was practically new. Then I bought 2 more, and another, and another. For me, the warranty seals the deal. Believe it or not, I've pretty much stopped buying knives that aren't Kershaw or ZT (for now anyway). The 0560 was in my pocket everyday since I got it, until I found the Kershaw Zing. $35 knife kicked the 0560 into the drawer.

I would have to agree, as much as I love ZT knives for that price I would take the bump up and get a CRK, or 5 different Beckers.

I'm sure they put a lot into those knives, but I don't see the price being that high.

That's all IMO though, maybe for some people who are die hard on the brand that works for them, I just think for that price you have better options.

i totally agree! not just as a knife nut but as a person who has a decent understanding of marketing. when i had $200-$250 to spend i would always look at zero tolerance first when choosing a new knife. why? because there are not many folders in that price range other than emerson. for less you can get benchmade's and spyderco's in the $100-$200 and some mid-tech's or entry level customs at he $300-$400 range so that left me with one dominant knife company in that price range, ZT! now since they are almost $300 with shipping i think i would rather save an extra $50 and try out a small sebenza or pick up a lightly used strider SnG for about $285-$350 which would be better money spent in my opinion. i think this price jump sent them from the top of heavy duty production knives market to knives that are mass produced that compete with mid tech's and some customs. and that would hurt ZT.heck you can get a zt 300 or 560 for about $290 right now or get on the list for a hinderer xm-18 3.5 for about $375 . yes you would need to wait almost a year if not more but you would get a knife that is a lot better.

thats just my 2 cents. so take it for what it is worth but i know it will make ZT knives harder to justify for me
