Romania...I didn't know about that. Any details about who is making them?

i know some smiths in hungary & czech republic, tho i've seen some from romania selling some nice axes. no idea on the sword yet. might have a maker's mark. i'll see when it gets here.

Normal- ...to fit seamlessly into herd and be invisible, to live a life so unremarkable for good or evil that people find out you died five years later after a totally undistinguished life in any particular endeavor, to live with no hope of reward and no fear of punishment and to fritter life away in inanity with everyone else...to know that standing out is a bad thing, especially in regards for defending the Good, and to find it far easier to follow the dark path to an eternal dead end of same existence without end or meaning with the herd for fear of being called "abnormal".
...normal.

the only thing normal about me are my medical test results. and a couple of those are iffy. normal is 'average'. i never fit the bell curves.

that was my brain igor took out of the jar.

and i want it back.

nah, i'm too old to change my name, i have trouble remembering the one i've already got.

I am DREADING windows 10. I am an IT specialist who specializes in networking production size print/copy/scan machines. I interface these devices to corporate, and end users computers.

They never make the proper print drivers for at least four to six months. Anyone upgrading to windows 10 should be aware that their networked printers might not work anymore. The same goes for certain types of network scan folders. The permissions always change when updating to new OS. Please take this into consideration before upgrading. Its always better to wait six months after a new OS is released to do the update. I am just now getting Canon color drivers for Mac Yosemite.

Sweet Mary and Joseph, gurkha berserka a IT specialist? Who knew, did I know? I don't think I knew.

I had you pegged as a logger or a longshoremen or maybe one of them strong man competitors where they pull busses up hills and push giant redwoods end over end for 3 or 4 miles.

This is a bit of a let down buddy.

i too was an IT support specialist, last job was with a large ISP as a 24/7 applications support specialist in one of their secure hosting centres. we assembled, configured and installed/deinstalled servers for the clients into our racks, kept them running and made backups of everything onto tapes. lots of fun with a few hundred servers & routers, some of them running international banking for major banks, and stuff for the govt. all centrally monitored. combination of sun, hp and compaq gear. miles of cat5, huge air conditioning plant and security guards all over, access control doors with both mag card locks and thumb print recognition.

anyway, my HP deskjet 5700 printer is set up as a network printer hanging off my router, mostly just to save a usb port. it works fine. only oddity so far there is i can't find where to have it print a test page, so i printed a document.

Thanks for the heads up. My company is a Microsoft Partner so I am required to update all the computers to the new OS's once they come out. Vista pretty much killed me, I was soooo happy with Windows 7. I am running windows 8.1 pro now, I hate it! I hope 10 will be better. They keep trying to merge tablet, phone, and PC operating systems into one. It is a mistake if you ask me, no one uses the stupid "touch" features or menus on their desktops. Its a nightmare for end users... I can get around it easy but trying to explain something on the phone to layman is a real pain in the arss.

You always have to do the printer driver dance when a new version of Windows comes out. And once they're released they never work. You call the printer manufacturer and they say their drivers work perfectly but Microsoft broke it with some update or another, so you call Microsoft and they say their software works fine, the printer driver must be broken. Not looking forward to that hassle. At least I can push out new print drivers easily with a GPO.

On a smaller scale - My mom has an old but perfectly working HP Laserjet. From the era of the USB/Centronic transition. HP wanted to catch up fast on the USB technology so they made a Centronic to USB cable that needed weird HP drivers to work. Nice HP folks didn't port the drivers to win7 and forget about Win8. So when I upgraded my mom's computer we went for Windows 8.1... Couldn't get the f-beep-ing printer to work.

Then my 70 years old mom said... Don't you have an old winXP running in a virtual machine at home?
me - Euh yeah why???
her - Well why don't you "make" one on my new computer and use the XP drivers in it?
me - you know what, that could work...

And it did. Not the most elegant way but it did. She had that "I told my son what to do with a computer" face for months.

Let me know. I think I do know the axe maker.

Awww, heartwarming! Excellent, thanks for sharing!

Yall never fail to strive to make me look stoopid, but you do it very very well.

Maybe yall could create a virtual computer what a cave man like bawanna could work. I just want one that does what I want when I want it and not send me no nasty messages or tell me what to do like all the violets I work with ya know.

Pretty simple. Simple is good.

You're no cave man my friend. Just had a different line of work I guess.
You manage to use the forum, send pictures and all - that's something.

No matter how much you know about computers you ALWAYS have to deal with very very frustrating situations.
The machine you are looking for doesn't exist and not sure it will during our lifetime.

And just when you start to know a system. They void your knowledge and ask you to learn something "better". Sigh.

One thing for sure, the guys who survived the punch cards agree that what came after was somewhat better.

Sorry man, I didn't mean to let you down. Truth be told, I don't resemble an "IT" guy in the least. 6'5 295lbs, shaved head, long goatee, pistol packing, motorcycle riding, tattooed (entire left leg + 7 more)... Is that manly enough?

I quit drinking whiskey years ago, but I use to down a bottle of Chivas Regal every night in my 20-30's. I could hang with the best of them. However, I have lost my taste for all things containing alcohol. I would probably get drunk off two or three beers now.

I must regain my status with Bawanna. Maybe a strong man competition? Maybe I could swallow some nails, or challenge some bad ass to a fight. Tell me what I must do to regain face with Lord Bawanna :p

Actually you sound a lot like the cities IT guy here, not that tall, not that heavy but shaved head and long goatee.

You've never lost face from bawanna, its of little significance anyhow and not to be concerned about.

You chat with best friends you've never met around here and paint a picture of what they look like. In your case I obviously ran out of paint or ink as they say in the tattoo world.

Your aces in my book pal, hold your chin up.

I do think I could still take ya, after lunch and a nap. Just sayin.
