0770 CF production question

Does anyone know if the production 0770 is going to have flat scales like the prototype that was at SHOT show, or 3D machined scales like its aluminum counterpart?

I really liked the 3D scales on the 0777 and when I first saw the 0770, I thought it looked nice, but when I first heard it was going to come with CF scales, I was pretty excited about the cool 3D look on a less expensive folder but with flat scales, IMO it sort of changes the overall appearance of the knife. I'll still probably pick one up, but I'm just really curious about this for some strange reason (probably more hopeful that they're 3D :D ).

Anyone from KAI still watch the forums that can answer?

They will be flat...:)

I think deep down I had already come to terms with that, but I still had some glimmer of hope, man. :)

Oh well, I can't complain too much - its a great time to be into knives right now with all the choices we've got.

The more I look at them the more I'm absolutely certain that I'll still pick up a 0770CF either way.

Yeah I'm all for the CF version either way.
I'm not a big fan of aluminum handles. The coating scratches easily and at least with Ti it can be re-blasted, or polished out. Not so with anodized aluminum. I don't actively avoid it, but I much prefer the CF version and will look for it when it becomes available.

0770cf would be pretty expensive if they milled the cf handles. Aluminum is super easy to machine, CF is a GIANT PITA.

Producing the CF scales in contoured 3D manner like the one on the aluminum 0770 would make the 0770CF too expensive.

I have it on good authority that they WILL produce the knife. I'm even cautiously optimistic that they'll release it during my lifetime. ;) :)

I really dig the pivot they're using for the CF model. I actually prefer the aluminum handled version, my ideal one would be the aluminum handles with the flashy pivot.

FWIW, I have found the hard anodizing on the 770 to be more than enough protection for the handles. It frequently looks like I'm getting silver scratches on the handles, but I can just rub it off. It turns out the hard handles are actually abrading the other metals that rub against them

A couple of days ago, the Zero Tolerance Facebook page changed its cover photo to a 0770CF seemingly being worked on:

I just wish the damn 770 was made to be made manual, like a deeper detent but less lock bar pressure. Oh and bigger washers. Or just make the damned thing NOT speedsafe.

The 770 would be a great design as a manual flipper. Kind of like a classy 350. Kershaw, stop ruining great designs by making them assisted!

In a tense situation or a moments need of safety....I have never felt more confident opening a knife than when it had Speedsafe...I tried flicking my 707 when I needed to and I somehow couldn't...am I incompetent? Maybe...despite the number of years I've used the 707, I still couldn't open it when I needed to....

So when it comes to function, yes I don't mind the Speedsafe, but I will agree..... to "enjoy" a knife I'd rather have it on washers/ball bearings.

First thing I do with Speedsafe knives with detent hole is take out the torsion bar then proceed to enjoy the knife. I can open it just as fast, slower and can close it without fighting the torsion bar too.

I understand the cf will not be machined, I just hope it is not too smooth. A bit of texture would be nice. Maybe some weave rather than polished slick. Of course I will buy one anyway.
