1 belt knife to rule them all

2008.07.25.R0016123.JPG

Here's mine.
blade length 90mm, overall 205mm, wighs130gr.
Patina covered blade steel is M2.
I made this 14 years ago and repaired the sheath recently.

This is my only fixed blade knife.

That one's awesome! Who needs another knife with a beauty like that?!

Did someone say Becker?? Here is mine with handle and sheath (and photo!) by my friend ilbruche here on BF. Fantastic package-stout enough for tough jobs and nimble enough for small ones. I'd still bring a smaller blade probably.

Sweet!
I bought a BKT Campanion blank on ebay this week!
I think i'm going to get some exotic wood slabs for it. Ironwood maybe.

I would like to say it`s one of mine that I made, but I can`t seem to keep them. This is my old USA made Rigid, it`s got a lot of miles on it.

This is an easy one for me, my Ratmandu...IMO it's the greatest knife ever put out by the Swamp !!!
I have other knives that out cut it and others that out chop it but as an all round blade this one is tops.
The only problem is that I like it so much that I kinda save it and use my other blades instead !!!! Dumb eh !!!!!!!!!!!!

Kind of a German Sheppard... second best on anything! Give hell to that knife anyway Pitdog, it is screaming to get used hard. How much does it retail for? Did you buy it on their store or somwhere else?

A kind forum member sold it to me for what he had origionally paid !!!;)

Right now, my favorite is my Breeden Pathfinder. Good size, nice blade shape, very thin and good edge, and the sheath is very nice. It has some things I don't completely like about it, but in my limited selection it is definitely the best. Also not to say it's a bad knife, but sometime down the road Bryan is going to get another order to fix those quirks :)

Noshtero what knot is that on your lanyard?

I love pocket sheaths like on that Busse Warden...I'd just be concerned about security.

Soo...I get an Axe and a small tool (folder..multi-tool?) or its the small knife..and I have a chopper?
Well this is easy...if I could only carry one knife..and NOTHING else..I would take the BUSSE ASH1.
If I could only have one knife for the rest of my life and still have an Axe and or something else..I would take my BRKT Aurora. I would love to tell you that it would be my Skookum or IDUN..my Bravo1..or any of the other AWESOME knives that I own...but alas. I love the Aurora. The clean lines, the way it feels in hand..the shape of the blade. Overall, .........its the best damn knife I have ever held. I have shown it to guys that know very little about knives..but they know adventure..soldiers..hikers..climbers..they all hold it and drool..then say the same sentence...."that is one cool knife."
Honestly..the IDUN might be the "best" knife I own, but the Aurora has soul.

We have waaay too many of the same knives:D

Well, I'm too lazy to drop in some pictures, but I see "belt knife" as just that; something that is comfortable to carry 24/7. My idea is typcially a 4-6" fixed blade knife. I'm torn between a couple...I carry a Mad Dog PATAK everyday for work, but I'd want a little better slicer for outdoors:

Bark River Bravo-1 (top choice)
Bark River Wet Enviro
Fehrman Last Chance
Swamp Rat Ratmandu
Koster Nessmuk

Of course, I'll have several others for different needs:

Fiddleback Nessmuk camp chores
Garcia's SBT for bushcraft
Fallkniven's WM1 (in a MercHarness)
Large Chopper (Siegle, BRKT, Becker BK9 or Fehrman)
Couple of folders, my SAK Outrider, Silky Saw and Swiss Spirit multi tool

:D

ROCK6

I'd probably have to "play it safe" and choose one of the most indestructable knives I have...

I'd pick my Busse Skinny ASH, assuming I'd also have access to a smaller folding knife.

If I had access to a hatchet or small axe, I'd take my Busse Boney Active Duty:

But I could certainly make do with my Fallkniven F1, Ontario RAT TAK D2, one of various Moras, a Blackjack Trailguide or Woodsman, etc.

Stay sharp,

I have so many. Usually I carry three. But one knife to rule them all should not be too big or too small. Maybe this Busse Skinny ASH1 that I did a full convex grind on.

I'd go with my BRK&T Northstar. It is just about the right size and shape for ordinary knifely tasks, and I'd have a multitool and hatchet for the other stuff. Yeah, I'd be content to have it as my only belt knife.

The only other fixed blade knives I have now besides the Northstar are a Mini Canadian and a Becker Crewman. Both are great, but I wouldn't want either as my one and only.

Definitely the Bark River Aurora...I bought it around Easter and have not bought a knife since. I am not saying it's a better knife than lots of other, similar knives, but it's a very, very good knife. Ideally I would pair it up with something like a 3/4 axe and a very small fixed blade or a small folding knife.

I can't think of anything I want a knife to do that the Aurora doesn't do for me.
