hey jca21, what store are you talking about, I am in Cloverdale. I have 2 of the wetterling large hunter axe 19in and I have never had a better hatchet.

i emailed italian sporting goods in vancouver and they said they stock two of the wetterlings mini axes.

i can email you the prices they quoted me if you provide an email address.

Bens Backwoods has them in stock!

Just checked the Wetterlings site and Bensbackwoods apparently the Mini (SAW 10H) is actually a Wetterlings SAW13H with a shorter 10 inch handle.
So the head is is the same weight 1.25 pounds and dimensions as my SAW13H head.
Darn i was hoping the head weight/size was closer in size to the GB mini.
Oh well the Wetterlings mini is still a sweet little axe!
If i didn't already have the SAW13 i'd pick one up for sure!
:)

Some day when I get the chance, I want to pick one of the GB minis up, but the price will halt me a bit.
I can only imagine the wetterlings would work better in the sense that the head is a little heavier.

GB is 11 oz, and the wetterlings is 16? not too bad, but the extra is worth it in my eyes.

Spooky, I have pictures coming up for comparison.

Actually the Wetterlings 1.25 pounds (20 ounces).

Yeah the GB price gives me stickershock as well!
Always wanted one but for me i just can't justify the expenditure!
And for that price i'd want to paw it before i bought it.
But hey if the Canadian dollar ever zips up to 1.25 U.S again i'll go for it!
:D

Good review Fonly  Makes me want to pick up a hatchet or axe even if it's just to play around with one.... :)

Thanks a bunch Fonly! Ya take 40 pictures, I ask for 41. ;)

haha, I dont mind at all man, please the people I say!:D

One thing I did notice, it looks like the hatchet has rust on the head in that pic, but it doesn't at all, just the color came out weird.

Yeah, I saw that coloring too! I was like, "I know Fonly doesn't take care of his tools for crap, but that was quick rust..." :D ;)

Anyway, ya jerk, I put one on order because of you.
