Well I took a pretty good chewin' not too long ago about my outdated website. And, although I liked the layout of the old one, it was getting hard to manage due to so many required manual tasks.

Well, I have a new one. But it doesn't really have that "homey" feel yet. This is where you come into play. I want product reviews so that future customers will get a better feel for who likes what, and why.

So, go to my website CollectorKnives.Net and find a product that you have yourself or have some experience with. Leave some feedback that somebody else would find useful when making their purchasing decision. There is also a place for "Site" feedback, and you are welcomed to post there as well. There is no requirement that you bought the product from me.

Once you have left a review or site feedback, come back to this thread and post a UNIQUE NUMBER BETWEEN 0 and 10000. I will draw a random number at a random time and the closest guess will get a $100 store credit. If two people post the same number, first to post gets it. If two guesses are the same count from the generated number (as in one higher and on lower, but the same difference), the under wins.

I don't want to limit you to one, so let's just say a limit of 10 entries, with only one "site" review per person. But my main goal is to have useful and pertinent reviews; so please take the time to make it helpful to others. Once the closest guess is determined, I will verify their review and declare them the winner.

Clarification: One guess for each review; with a max of 10. The guess must be posted within 2 hours of the review. To keep players from waiting until the last minute and shooting gaps in the guessing I have changed the end time to randomly selected. If you edit your post (more than 1 hour after original post, to allow for simple corrections) after 11:59PM 11/2/13, I must assume you are changing your guesses, and the entire post will be invalid. I hate having to add rules, but I don't want anyone slighted. If you don't mind, post here with your guess what you reviewed; that will help me verify later.

Many thanks for the help!

Great-looking site Mike, though I always thought it looked pretty good!

Will have a look at posting some feedback tomorrow (late here)

Edit - I've submitted a couple of product reviews. Hope they're helpful, and thanks for the fun giveaway.

I'll go for 999 :)

A search function - hooray!!!

Just took a brief look - very nice so far. I can also understand it is hard for you to get used to the new setup, but in the long run I think it will work out great.

I'll post some feedback later tonight.

Noticed the new site yesterday and really liked it, especially being able to browse GEC products by pattern, which makes things a lot easier given how large your selection is. Kudos on the improvements. I'll be sure to leave some feedback on the site itself.

I like look of your site better now,but...there's still one thing missing :p

I like the new website, Mike. It's much easier to search for a particular model, especially GEC's.

I posted a review for a #66. I really like the new site Mike! I love the pattern search option the most! I choose # 1

Not an entry, but the new site looks great! the prices look even better...my wallet...is in serious trouble. :o

Honestly I have one major problem with your new website. For the most part it's great but the page size is too small when viewing the whole GEC catalog, for example. On the old site, each page showed a large number, 60-70 knives, but now it's only 16. Most users prefer a website to be viewable on a minimum number of pages, one page if possible. At the very least an option to pick how many knives are shown per page is necessary in my opinion. Otherwise it seem really excellent and the graphic design is tasteful.

I left a site review, one for the #92, #81, and a Queen trapper jack.

Congratulations on the publication of your new site! Thanks for the giveaway.

I just took a quick look and there are two things besides aesthetics that I would like to give my opinion on.

First- I really dislike having to hit a drop down menu for product descriptions. If I'm clicking on a knife, I want to know more about it and feel it should be given that info straight away. I don't mind having the other drop down options.

Second, I dislike seeing a struck out price with a new price beside it. Some sites have every single item marked down, and that seems to cheapen the entire site. I can understand the 'getting a deal' aspect of it to push sales, but you already have a clearance section so I know prices are cheaper there, and don't mind how you currently have the discount listed in the description once the specific knife is clicked on.

I did like how well the search worked when I tried a few of my favourite choices, and once some color is added to give some feeling it should be a great site to click on and dream. I have a long trip tomorrow (wife driving) so I will try to get some product reviews up.
Thanks for what you do!!

Thanks for the chance, Mike.
Posted reviews on the 85 Bullet Jack, the 64 Queen Canoe and the 73 Spey Scout, all of which I bought from you. I would've done one on the 15 spear in ebony or the 15 clip in antique yellow bone i got from you, but you don't have any more of either for sale, and i don't know where the reviews would best be placed.
The site is a big improvement, but I still think you need to show both sides of the product.

I still think you need to show both sides of the product.

Forgot to add this in my review. I know it's a tradeoff of time versus volume, but I generally won't drop the cash on a stag GEC unless I can see both sides. Granted, there are ways to see a collectorknives knife in stag beforehand (like being on one of the Early Bird lists) but it's not SOP.

Also, to avoid invalidating my previous post by editing it again, I reviewed the following:

The website
33 Conductor, Ebony
33 Conductor, stag
62 Elk Congress
56 Tidioute Weaver
71 Bullnose
72 Stag
65 BHLB Pheasant
72 Farmer
15 Boy's Knife

I like the look of the new site. Much more modern. The old one was...dated looking but homey. Like others have said, takes a bit of getting used to but I like it!
