Very well-done revamp of the site! One review on the Case Copperlock, Sir. 4365 would be my choice.

I like the layout of the new site and search function, they make it very easy to navigate. I ordered and received an 81 stockman last week and appreciate the ease of the process. Since I chose the 81 to buy and review I'll choose 81 in this giveaway as well.

I don't really see what you are talking about other than if you mean you don't actually want to click on a product summary to have to see the product full description. The screen that shows in the catalog only shows the title, picture, price; that is the way it is built such that they can fit more on a page and let the user skim thru them faster. I have no control over that. I wish I could have had my old layout with all the simplicity of the new one; I am a fan of the old "walking the isles" feeling.

I also despise having some salesman trying to give me some false feeling of a great bargain, like I am a lemming. But, there is a place for price, which is what you have decided to sell an item. And there is a place to enter "sale" price. Since the clearance items are not permanent clearance items and I don't want to bring it off clearance at a higher price than before it went on clearance; my old brain needed the assistance. And even clearance items show up with their own brand and category as well and need some qualifier to show they are on discount; but we are talking about less that 10 separate items out of 1000+....

I appreciate your response and had a feeling that my first issue was a matter of software. And the second issue is more of an annoyance to me, and really I want to make clear that I do like the new site, and none of these Issues are going to drive me elsewhere. Thanks for trying to change based on demand, and I'm sure most of what you hear is more personal choices and opinions to try and help the new site as much as we can; as opposed to just complaining for the sake of complaining.

...So, if you simply must see both sides to make a purchase, no hard feelings. But be aware that you are getting picked over knives elsewhere when the sweetest little stag beauties are sitting right here :D

That is certainly your prerogative, and I have no hard feelings, but not for nothing you have missed at least three sales from me because of this policy when it comes to stag knives. I will not buy a stag covered knife "in the dark" period (I am speaking of current production pieces that are available elsewhere). And yes I did inquire if you would show me the flip side on a Stag knife before I shopped, and bought, elsewhere.

That said, I will not hesitate to do business with you again, and i like the new site. I got around the old site just fine, but you got some nice new features on the new site. Especially the reviews!
I have only posted 2 reviews so far, but I will do more.

This type feedback is what I am looking for; but there will be a lot I can't do anything about.

I understand that it is costing me business, and am really looking for a solution that simply would not consume my family life. But, this is where I am at right now and the one downside is that I have all these extra stag knives in my vault right at the time when the premium on stag is getting significantly larger :D But I will keep trying to find an economical way to solve the problem.

I sent a couple of reviews. But man this site is awesome! i gotta get used to it but i already like it better! great job!

Can't comment on any of the products sadly as I don't think I own any of them. But as for the website it looks well laid out how it is right now and I only make a couple small changes after toying with it and writing this review for little over an hour, my friend used to make websites and occasionally asked me if there would be anything he change before he call it finalized. So yes there's going to be a little constructive criticism.

Under Policies/FAQ's, I would change it so you have links to the questions and policies so people can easily take a glance at it to see if there is the information they want on there instead of skimming the page. You see example of this on several websites, it's just one of those small little touches which make life easier. Pretty much a link that just shoots you down the page to the appropriate area, this seems to be almost standard on every website.

Than I would change the shop by price setup to allow custom price points. If you go to Case Cutlery for example the price range is "$0-115, $115-224, $224-332, $332-441, $441-550". Whats worse is out of the 6 pages 5 of them are in the $0-115 range so the shop by price is kind of pointless here. The increments are too large in this to be of any real use to help narrow down knife selection. And it looks like you already have the price range search setup in the advance search, integrating that function in the side bar would be very helpful.

It would also be helpful to have the advance search setup to allow you to leave the keyword blank so we can pick which brands to look at without any criteria in that regard.

Someone mentioned the whole price slashed with the actual price next to it annoying them. After looking at it, it may look nicer if that the slashed price was in black and the current price in red so your eyes are drawn to the current price automatically instead of your brain trying to decipher it with both of them being the same color, this helps quite a bit if the person is just skimming the page. Little trick I picked up over the years from making notes on a computer, when 2 alike things like that are near each other it's hard to read/process the information if your quickly skimming. It's better to separate it so it's easy to find. If you want to see what I mean go to the clearance page and scrolls down as fast as you can while reading the prices, than do the same on any other page which doesn't have the slashed prices.

I would also like to see more pictures of the knives, this is one of the biggest things that draw me to various websites when concerning a knife since I can't physically hold it. So a picture of the front, back, top, bottom at bare minimum. At a higher resolution too if possible, it be a big plus. The longer you can keep me on YOUR website drooling over a knife the better odds you have of me pulling out that credit card to buy it.

Beyond that as far as I can tell it's pretty well laid out and only other gripes I have are just personal preference which I won't go into. Figure I leave this feedback here as I don't see it as all that appropriate on your site. May or may not be the kind of thing you wanted but this is what I can offer in terms of feedback, I hope it helps. And BTW I really do like the site setup minus the few little things I pointed out it was VERY EASY to find what I wanted. Wish I could comment on your previous site but honestly I am not sure I have ever been to it.

As for the number I pick, I choose my old hockey number 32.

First a couple of notes on the site:

  • I like how the 'Quick View' option works, it allows me to get some details on the knife, without having to go to a whole new web page, so I can continue browsing the list
  • I really like the Sort by drop down menu. This allows me to sort by 'Newest Items' so I can quickly see what the latest products are in any particular category. I like the Sort by option in general.
  • I like that you split out the GEC categories by pattern and that you have a separate section for stainless. It makes it much easier to find a particular knife
  • The shopping cart is MUCH improved from what you had before

Overall, I think this new website is a big step up over the previous one. It's easier to find what I am looking for and there are many options for sorting and filtering the various knives to narrow down the options for me.

I left reviews for the following items:

I noticed the change a few days ago, and I like it a lot because it is much easier to search by pattern, or do a basic search for something specific. I find it much easier to navigate the site.

Hi Mike,

Just drooling over your site! Just a thought, would it be possible to give dimensions for the knives, ie blade/overall length? I know this would be quite a lot of work, but because of legal/work restrictions blade length is increasingly a deciding factor for many buyers.

Actually that be a really nice thing to see, I've been on a different website a lot recently because they had close/open blade length along with blade length/width/thickness. Big factor was legal reasons and so I don't accidentally buy too large of a knife again that I won't carry.

(Just wanted to point out your not the only one who like to see that)

Is the blade length based on the edge, from the pivot, or from the frame in open position?

The edge.

For legal purposes, the blade length is measured from the forward-most part of the handle to the tip of the blade.

However, there have been posters on BF who merely wanted to know the length of the cutting edge.

I find the most informative and objective specs to just be the open and closed length. This way there is no guessing what "blade" length means
