Not an entry, but I just spent
a bit of time perusing on the mobile side of the site with dodgy wifi connection. All is good, and at some point I look foreward to seeing the full site:thumbup:
Thank You for breaking out the 440C offerings by GEC into their own sub catagory( I don't know
If this was the previous layout or not?) and thank you for the GAW, even though this is a non entry:thumbup:

I left a review on the website. I think it looks great! It also has much improved functionality over the previous site. Good job man.

I'll choose number: 6050

Big improvement the search feature is great. I've visited your site many times because you have a terrific selection and good prices but found navigating rather tedious. Just a suggestion, get a graphic designer and lose the "old timey" italic and 19th Century banner decoration. Homey does not have to mean hokey ;-)

Left suggestion for site. I would like 340 if possible. Will leave feedback later for some recent purchases.
Harold

I just took a quick look and there are two things besides aesthetics that I would like to give my opinion on.

First- I really dislike having to hit a drop down menu for product descriptions. If I'm clicking on a knife, I want to know more about it and feel it should be given that info straight away. I don't mind having the other drop down options.

I don't really see what you are talking about other than if you mean you don't actually want to click on a product summary to have to see the product full description. The screen that shows in the catalog only shows the title, picture, price; that is the way it is built such that they can fit more on a page and let the user skim thru them faster. I have no control over that. I wish I could have had my old layout with all the simplicity of the new one; I am a fan of the old "walking the isles" feeling.

Second, I dislike seeing a struck out price with a new price beside it. Some sites have every single item marked down, and that seems to cheapen the entire site. I can understand the 'getting a deal' aspect of it to push sales, but you already have a clearance section so I know prices are cheaper there, and don't mind how you currently have the discount listed in the description once the specific knife is clicked on.

I also despise having some salesman trying to give me some false feeling of a great bargain, like I am a lemming. But, there is a place for price, which is what you have decided to sell an item. And there is a place to enter "sale" price. Since the clearance items are not permanent clearance items and I don't want to bring it off clearance at a higher price than before it went on clearance; my old brain needed the assistance. And even clearance items show up with their own brand and category as well and need some qualifier to show they are on discount; but we are talking about less that 10 separate items out of 1000+....

Really like the new site.

I still think you need to show both sides of the product.

Now me and you both know that is a lie! What you think is that I should show both sides of EVERY item in stock. ;)
Then you might as well show top and bottom. So instead of one picture and posting, I could do forty for each variation.

This has been discussed ad-nausea and there are pros / cons to both. But I promise you that when I start buying only 2-3 of each stag knife OR when I increase my margins enough to hire 2-3 other folks - I will show front / back pictures of every knife. In the meantime, I want the last guy to buy a stag knife to be just as happy as the first guy. So if there are any stag I wouldn't be happy with, it goes out the back door. And 99% of my concerns come from customers that haven't actually bought a knife, just want to see them. I love you and I understand your opinion, but I have one as well. And all stag knives go to happy homes eventually and they are not eating anything in the vault. So, if you simply must see both sides to make a purchase, no hard feelings. But be aware that you are getting picked over knives elsewhere when the sweetest little stag beauties are sitting right here :D

Submitted review for GEC #79 Montana Workhorse Whittler in Ruby Red Bone.

Thanks. -Greg

Submitted review for GEC Farmer Lock. Love this knife! I would like the number 444. Thanks!

You really shouldn't call someone a liar for stating an opinion.
And you don't know what I think unless I tell you.

I was mainly concerned with the stag and probably should have been clearer about that. I've bought at least eight knives from you, but none in stag. Our opinions of what constitutes good stag may be very different and if I'm spending that kind of money, I want to make an informed choice. Your site lacks the information I need to make that choice.

On another note:
I just left two more reviews for you - Queen #3 and Tidioute 15 clip.

Great new site, and thanks for the giveaway. I left a review for the 2011 Northfield Burnt Stag Geppetto Wharncliffe whittler

I'll take #1234 Thanks!

Not an entry, but thanks for the opportunity anyway. :)

Great improvement. Being able to look for GEC by pattern is big, IMHO. The site just got bookmarked and will now be part of my list of traditional dealers to do business with. Nicely done.

The post was in humor as it would be no good for me to show both sides of a knife that was no longer in stock. Since each product has a "stock" picture, but up to 20 more behind it; it would not be much use to show both sides of the first one that sold. What I presumed you really would like to see, as I would, is the front and back of each stag knife that was in stock of a specific run.

I know what you are saying; but you also understand that we are not talking about taking two pictures of each stag production run - regardless of the actual amount in inventory. My apologies if you really felt like I called you a liar; as you have told me what you think on this topic more than once.

Just posted a review for the houndstooth Mike, thank you.

I`ll try 3421

I like the new site, the search function is great!

Posted a review on the GEC Steel Toenail. I also did a general site review.

I would take 777
and
7177

I will look and post reviews on more that I have bought.

My thoughts on the site. I may be mis-remembering, but are the photo's as big as they were on the old site?

I am another who would like to see front and back of a knife (which I realize is a lot of pictures to take). One thing that helps me make a decision is also to see a knife with one blade open, and the other closed, and all blades closed (this helps me know how the other blades and tangs will feel in hand, and in pocket when closed). A top down photo would also help get a feel for the width.

I have spend countless hours on the old site. Looking at every single knife! Your site is my go to when ever I am looking for traditional knives.

I have a handful of other reviews I would like to post, but the models are sold out, and no longer showing to review.
