Please count my entry for DoctaD, or other well deserving veteran. Thank you all for your service.

Wow, THANK YOU! I wasn't expecting vicarious entries and such support for my sons. I too, appreciate the service that all of our servicemen/women have made, as well as the others, such as fire, police, and rescue folk that risk life and limb for us.

Trevor ,Congrats on hitting 10K, I throw my hat in and Thank you for the chance.

I'm one of the not in's because there are a lot more deserving than me. But I am impressed by your generosity and I am impressed by the friendliness of forumites on the busse forum. I'll have to visit more often.

I guess I should add a little something. If I win this knife, I'm going to give it away to one of the Marines out here. I no longer serve and I make plenty of money as a civilian, so I'd like to give this knife to one of the Marines that is doing an outstanding job and protecting me while we are out patrolling. I ended my service as a Staff Sergeant, and one regret I have is that I am no longer with my junior Marines. I have such a huge amount of respect for what our junior Marines are out there doing every day, and I would love to show one of them some appreciation.

On September 11th, 2001, I was sitting in a college classroom. I remember everyone just sitting and watching in disbelief, many in tears. I haven't been brought to tears often in my life, but I was affected by that day a lot more than I'll usually admit. I had decided to put off enlisting in the Army in order to finish a degree and go in as an officer. That night after speaking with my girlfriend (now wife), I decided I had to enlist. I dropped out of college and enlisted in the Marine Corps. I ended up doing 6 combat deployments and a MEU that also went to Haiti.

My old Det:

thanks for the chance, I've pimped a busse, but never owned one. here's hoping to change that;-)

I would love a Tali-Wacker.

I will post a "I'm in", but don't really feel I deserve it.

As always, KnifeHunter, thanks for all you contribute to this forum.

On a side note, the Boss Jack that was donated to my cousin just came back to me for a sharpen. I convexed the edge and sent it back to Robert. He carried it on his vest every day in Afganistan. The finish was pretty banged on the hilt especially.

I would like to have one. However, I would rather see it go to an active. I step down from my chance for someone else to have the opportunity. good show knife hunter.

Thank you sir for the opportunity.

A few years out of high school, I decided I needed some direction in life. Against my mother's wishes, I joined the Marine Corps (she was pushing the air force). 12 years of active duty - honorably discharged as a SSgt. Operation Sharp Edge in Liberia and Desert Storm, and I'm a life member of the VFW.

I've been out of the Corps since late 1999. I was headed to court for the first hearing of a custody battle that morning of 9/11. Long story short, I did get custody of my 2 boys and have been raising them since.

I started working in the corporate world after the Corps, but have always missed the military. At one time I even wanted to be LEO, but that never transpired. About 4 months ago, on a whim and 46 years old, I applied for an opportunity as a reserve deputy on the local sheriff's department. And got it. Am in the middle of my time with an FTO now, and really enjoy it.

One thing I really enjoy is the group of guys I've met. I do my duty as a reserve deputy for free, and luckily do well in my career. I'm really amazed at this young group of guys and what they do for limited salaries.

Plus, I have a Tali-whacker from the last Ganza offering. So, what I would do should I win the GAW, is donate the knife to one of the full-time deputies on my department. The one that has been most patient and given me a LOT of their time.

Again, thanks for the chance!! And thanks to all who have and continue to serve!

Thanks for the chance!

I was out of the Army and the MP Corps in the early 90s, but i'm not playing for me, anyway.

Have a young cousin who is local FD, and also goes to some of the larger fires in AZ when needed.

If i win, it goes to him, never know when a good knife will be needed by a firefighter. You just know that a good knife will be needed.

There are already many worthy post and still plenty of time to enter. This is going to be a difficult choice.

I also know that there are many here that cant, or wont post for a multitude of reasons. That is understandable, and that is ok. However, it will be the ones here that are able to share that will win in this thread on behalf of all that serve and protect .

This thread is in "Honor" of you "ALL".

The stories will surely contain both accounts of good, and bad memories of that terrible day, and although we may morn it does not change the fact that this thread is not a sorrowful one.

It is in fact a joyous one with drums in honor of you "ALL".

In the end, "WE Will Rejoice!"

Very generous giveaway! Thank you to all military members and first responders, past and present.

On 9-11 I was watching a Rambo VHS movie when my phone rang...it was the wife of a friend from the Lodge and VFW. She asked me if my son was OK; surprise4d, I said "yes, but why do you ask?". Then she asked me if I saw the news, and to turn it on quickly. I was shocked by the FOX coverage! I told her that my son was fine, and that he was already back home from the Pentagon and in fact on vacation in Florida. She thought that he worked at the Pentagon instead of just reporting in. I was glued to the television the rest of the day, and for quite some time later! I also continued working on my preps in between. It was touchy, as my wife was still in Illinois while I was here in Missouri working on getting the house and ranch in shape, while she was still working and our house up there was for sale.
