1075

Well I now own 4 pieces 12 ft long 4" wide that show .065 or 1/16 with my dial indicator. Kinda thin but should make fillet knives as is and I believe I can thicken it a bit if I take a piece about 1 1/2" wide and hammer it sideways. It has a light coat of rust. I BSed the salesman a bit about it and he said they got it as salvage in a big wrapped bundle from the pulp mill. They had used it to make slicer blades but changed equipment. They still have about 20 pieces of so and had scrapped out some. I plan to harden some this weekend and see what happens and will take a couple pieces to work and see if I can get a quality control guy to hit it with a gun to see for sure what it is. I think I can also cut it in 1 " strips and stack it with my 15N20 and forge weld and twist it without folding and hammer out knives like this one I did from a round twisted billit. If it is really 1075 and someone wants some let me know how much and how long of pieces. Poatage and a bit for my hassle or maybe some handle material or whatever.

Thanks. I am going to start doing more knives with forged bolsters. I have forge welded a few on and even taken a flat billet and folded and forged to form. I have another plan I am going to try soon.
