Yep, was talking Contra there, Mecha. And you are probably correct... I haven't had the controller in my hands for decades.

I seem to remember that you didn't have to press "Select" unless there were two players?

At any rate, I bet Bill and Lance preferred 1095 in their blades.

I do believe you're correct! :D

I love 1095, but I'm thrilled that I was not limited to one option so that I could vote both "good" and "cats."

Cats were an important part of the equation.

A "scientific" poll would consist of a properly designed random poll of knife purchasers/owners and not responses to a post on a knife forum. Sorry but my undergraduate degree with a major in political science is showing. :) In any event, I still like 1095 and similar non-stainless steels for pocket knives.
That might be true for a poll regarding democratically elected leaders and even there you wouldn't ask the under 18 bracket.
However if you want to know what makers and above average knife nuts think then the Forum poll is pretty good. at least I personally would value the pro guys opinion much more than the one of the average knife buyer like my mom for example.

Yup I guess it depends on what you are trying to measure and whether or not you want to have an accurate representation of knife users. If one wants to determine the response of people who happen to be members of a certain forum and who take to take the time to respond to a thread on a particular knife forum then one will have a very accurate representation of those who choose to respond to that thread in a knife forum; otherwise it is not very "scientific" nor something one may use to determine anything other than that.

I voted "good," but I based that only on how it smells. I think that is the only characteristic that metals should be judged by, so my conclusion is logically and scientifically sound.

And everybody else is wrong.

you're a wise man ;)

Too late to change the title of the poll now, but you should have clarified. What usage?

Hunting knife?
Survival knife?
Tactical fixed blade?
Tactical Folder?
Traditional Folder?

What Knarf/Frank said!

Good for large choppers, I guess that's a Survival knife these days!:p For the rest, I have several Stainless steels starting with 440C, CMP-154, CPM-D2, AEB-L

There is one to add to Knarf's list too, Culinary knives which I will pass on any 10XX for.

Seriously, don't bother quibbling about the "scientific" validity of it.
It has Cats as a choice! :D

I won't be writing a scientific paper based on the results...it's purely for discussion purposes.
(Cats is still beating Meh...)

Also, it's quite "scientific", just not scientific. ;)

I picked meh, only really like 1095 in inexpensive small fixed blades and maybe the odd art piece. Other than that 5160 all teh way baby! And soon to be 3V as well! And I'm more of a dog person anyway..

I voted cats, although my cats don't tend to use much 1095 steel. Also cats made in 1095 are much heavier than normal cats but may be better for camping purposes.

I thinks 1095 is good for all of the above. Might not be the best for all but definitely good.
Besides I thought he meant what is best for cats.

Wait. I changed my mind. I vote "Bad" based on how well it floats. It doesnt, so its bad. And everything right there is factual.

How anyone could be so thick headed and delusional to buy a knife made of it that will be used near water escapes me!

Of course I'm not trying to cause controversy, stir things up, or my satisfy my pathological need to "win" online debates, by creating only-partially-relevant initial premises.

But it doesn't float (factual!), so if you voted Good, you are clueless.

I voted both good and cats. I think cats float (not totally sure) and 1095 smells better than cats. Now I'm confused. Was I wrong then, am I wrong now? See, this is why the turtles button is so important.:)

We're you wrong then? Wrong now? Yes and yes. Science! A wet cat smells nicer than 10xx. Oh, and also..."carbides". So I'm right. Which QED, means everyone else is wrong.

But again, I'm not stirring thing up or trolling.....this is all factual. Prove that a wet cat doesn't smell nicer than 10xx steel! Try! Try!
