11-1/2 years later. 2K giveaway. Winners Announced.

I'm In !!
congrats on your post count and thank you for doing such a generous gaw , they are both great knives!
11 1/2 years ago I was working 70 hours a week doing construction and hardly had free time enough to sharpen the knife I carried , but I am still driving the same Toyota truck I had back then and it was already 16 years old at that time...

Thanks for the chance. I'm in. 11 1/2 years ago I was just moving to new york from Chicago to go to art school. Lots of drinking and getting into trouble. It was an exciting but stressful time not without its share of both joys and setbacks. Not too much different now, but I'm probably a bit less excitable and I've stopped drinking completely.

BTW - I just recently changed my username from Lemepris to Lemmy.

I'm in! Thanks for the opportunity, very generous! 11 1/2 years ago I was a newly wed and just took a management position with my job.

I am in. 11 1/2 years ago I was an addict failing out of college, scamming money for drugs, and living on a blow up in a friends garage. Sober now 8 years, married, and one 15 month old. Life is good.

11 and a half years ago I was 4 years sober. It was also when I started collecting knives! ;)

'bout 20 years ago I developed a chronic pain syndrome, now "controlled" fairly well. Anyways, the second quote is pretty much dead on me (knife collecting and all). Couldn't raise my daughter not being all there.

Life *is* good.

Congrats on the 2k, not an entry but thanks for the generous giveaway and good luck to everyone.

Now 11 1/2 years ago I had just gotten a job working for the county, a government job, finally a job where I wouldn't have to kill myself and I could retire with a pension, a Gubment job, job security  yea, right, 3 years after being hired they had to downsize, they wiped out 40% of the maintenance crew, about 25 mechanics between 10 county facilities, including the courthouse, prison, Juvenile detention and an 800 bed nursing home.

They said it was more cost effective to pay a contractor to be on call to do emergency repairs and 40 % of the younger mechanics getting paid the least stayed, we had no union at the time, we were just putting one together. I guess they figured they could get rid of the rebel rousers in one fell swoop.

Thanks for the chance. i'm in.

11 1/2 years ago I had only been at my current job for a couple months. I was used to working for my father, and in retail. The office world was alien to me. Now, I am glad for the friendships I've made at work, and have moved up the ladder. My greatest accomplishment is making sure the people I serve are taken care of.

Nice. Thanks for the chance. I wasn't quite married yet, but dating the girl I'd marry. Been out of school a couple of years. Didn't have a beard..... played a bunch of guitar.

Well, those pics were more like 10 years ago. We moved shortly after getting married, but these pics were taken when I still lived where they were taken.

I'm in, half-way.

Just can't pass up a chance on that #42. Wowza!

If by some stroke of incredible luck, I get drawn for the Whittler, please pass it on to the next person in line.

11 1/2 years ago. We were a SITCOM. Single Income. Two (small) children. Oppressive Mortgage. And oh yes... a tech bubble that was bursting leaving us staring down the barrel of losing the job and the mortgage. Was spending 1 week+ a month on a plane. Ugg.

Wife stood by me like a rock. Kids are in high school and stable.

Yes, Davetec!! Life *IS* good.

Well I guess after reading all the posts here I lead a pretty boring life. 11 1/2 years ago I had been married to my second wife for 23 1/2 years. Our 35th. anniversary was yesterday. Lived in the same home as we do now, was self employed and still am. Have 2 grand kids, 18 & 15, and generally enjoyed life. Thank you.

11.5 years ago I was finishing my final (fifth) year of biology at the University of Alberta. Living with my girlfriend who is now my wife, trying to deal with a 24/7 headache that turns 14 this October (Still no pause to the pain). In martial arts, that changed with breaking my legs. No kids- two wonderful ones now, my daughter turns 8 today. Lost two parents (mine and an in law), and bought a house after finishing a second university program. Have more knives, and many more Slipjoints now!! Life stays the same, but changes at the same time. Seems so long ago, yet not at the same time! I'm in!

The main knives I carried applicable to the forum:

I'm in! 11.5 years ago I was 65 pounds heavier than I am now. Hated my life and trying to OD. Been sober 10 years now and life has been good!

I'm in! 11 to 11.5 years ago I was playing on basketball and baseball teams that eventually won our local under-16 and little league championships

Wow! 2000 posts, and 11.5 yrs, congrats Jenner! Thanks for the very generous GAW, both are very nice knives. Count me in please.

Eleven and a half yrs ago I was keeping busy in a fairly new to me Sales position and even busier with twin boys that were 7! Time flies by very quickly, and my sons are now men starting University. Many other changes along the way as well. Life is an adventure and I count my blessings every day.

Two of my fav patterns (lots to choose from) include the following....the yellow P'nut and the Radio Jack.
