My POS Road Bike...

Circa 1986 w/ original Headset, BB, Cranks and Brakes (Campy, Suntour and Dia Compe). Still rides well, but the bikes you guys are posting pics of are dream bikes for me...

I love that Speci. Nice colour. How does it ride? If you ever will let go of that frame you know how to contact me:D

Seriously, awesome bike!

Hey Jeepnut22,

The Cannondale looks to be in great shape. Specialized does make some cool looking mountain bikes and they ride fairly nice. Which disc brakes are on this ... hard to tell from pic??

I prefer Turner mountain bikes, overall, as it does just about anything I ask of it and keeps going ... I would take a picture but it would only show the mud ... it is in need of a bath.

Ron

Awesome bike! Love that carbon fiber!

I'm more in for mountainbiking. I used to do some freeride/downhill.

Now I building up my Cannondale Raven II frame. It needs to go for inspection of the carbon fiber frame but I managed to score some XTR parts for it and I'm looking for a lefty. I will also post some pics when it's finished.

Hey JurT,

Mountain biking is definitely more fun during the winter ... lots warmer in the trees with less wind. Enjoy the new ride!!

14,2 was the first thing that came to mind. So I'll up that to 16,1.

That's a nice little ride. Any idea how they get the carbon fiber red? Do they add something to the fiber or dye the epoxy?

Ron,

The brakes are Avid Juicy Sevens. Not the best available, but they still stop on a friggin' dime. During a steep technical, slow downhill, I hit them too hard and went over the bars. Definitly leaps and bounds above my Manual Disk/V-Brake set up on my old Bontrager OR Race Lite...

Turner was another bike I considered, but I got an insane deal on the Enduro and I couldn't pass it up. LBS dropped in the upgraded Shock and Fork internals proactively for me and I haven't had any of the reported issues. Doing downhill, the bike DOES NOT like it when you hit the brakes. Stiff fork and super stable going fast. Very predictable on slower technical terrain too.

I'm loving looking at all your bikes! TonyG: that may be the only della santa with a power meter that exists in the entire planet!

My two primary bikes are an '05 Specialized Roubaix (with Ksyrium SL's) and an Orbea Aletta (soon with my Zipp606's!).

For everyone who wonders why riding is fun....and to prove how much of a pain tolerance cyclists/triathletes have, I submit to you...

(World Cyclocross Championships: don't pay attention to the crashes so much as how quickly these guys get up!!)

And of course...Julie Moss in Hawaii:

Watch her finish. Kind of inspirational...

Ron, that is an awesome looking bike. I have not seen those wheels before. What are they and how much do they cost?

Have you weighed it yet?

Carbon frames are nice and I have a few.

I love Titanium in my frames and at that level the best is Moots.

13.4 lbs is my guess.

Very, very nice bike!

My wife has a custom serrota cyclocross bike (steel frame and fork).
My Cannondale doesn't even come close to either of them.

Congrats!

Phil, Thanks for the information. I find disc brakes to be great and only require a single finger for good braking. I usually use 2 fingers for my road bike.

Dennis,

An all carbon bike is very nice. Moots does make a nice bike but would probably get an IF first.

So, 16.1, 15.11, 14.2, 13.4, and 12.9 have come up in guesses...

12.1 lbs?

Errrr....

Wheels have 28-32 spokes and you learn to build them yourself so that you can fix 'em when they bust

That way when you go to a three day race 105 miles from a bike shop you don't have to spend 8-9 hours trying to get the wheel fixed and end up missing dinner and sleep.... like I did once about 15 years ago.:grumpy:

Dennis,

An all carbon bike is very nice. I find it more responsive than a bike with titanium like my Ottrott. Moots does make a nice bike but would probably get an IF first.

It has been weighed on a digital scale at the shop ... you'll just have to wait to get an answer from me though ... :D take a guess for the fun of it ;)

The wheels are Mavic Cosmic Carbone Ultimate tubulars. The factory stickers were removed immediately. I thought I'd try them instead of the more expensive option of the Lightweight Standards. The Mavic MP3 program is what convinced me ... full replacement of wheelset with any damage including any crash or other incident ... it adds 8% to the price but worth it. As for price of wheelset itself, the bike was a complete kit including the wheelset ... not sure of the actual price but I know they went up $800 this year.
