Let’s get a 112 now come on BuckWe only made 88 for this initial launch with the new steel. This version has nickel silver bolsters.
Let's whip up another batch right quick.... with nickel silver bolsters
How good this steel would be any experts ?It says initial, so I'm sure there will be more of some sort.
It would be a great knife.
Congrats to all that got one!

I was just reading up on this. Not as tough as S35V but better corrosion resistance and easier to sharpen. Better edge retention than S30V, but not by much. How good this steel would be any experts ?

I passed on it, for me buck are behind times on the newer fancy steels. It’s the start of fading out S30v me thinks.
If the initial run came with documentation showing that it is the limited run of 88 then I would of purchased. Otherwise there is nothing to determine and no stand out characteristics.
Start of a new chapter well done buck
Remember when they started "fading out" 420C?Or belt sheaths? Or brass bolsters some think are too heavy?
I don't think Buck is trying to keep up with everyone else, they are doing their own thing and haven't forgotten where they started.
I think they are offering some other steels because some of their fans are asking for options. I think that's great. And it beats the exhausting marketing campaign of trying to beat what you did last month that a lot of companies are doing these days, several even coming up with a new steel thats similar to several others they already offer.
Personally, if the steels Buck is offering don't get the job done, and done well, I'd like to know what the hell people are cutting with their knives?
This is a great sign that Buck is closely following the latest steel refinements.
I am sad these were gone so fast, but 88 is a pretty small number!
My opinion it’s not about it still being good it’s about there is always better.
Remember when the I phone first came out it the world SHUT DOWN as soon as the next model come out bang sold out. Buck should always keep up with the newer steels. Most folks buy as they believe newer is better
I love the weight of buck 110s but I also love the lightness of spyderco.
But, how much better? For mostly cutting cardboard or lunch?
Most people I know that use knives for hunting or outdoor hobbies like camping or even bushcraft use tool steels like 1095, A2, 01, etc. The reason generally ease of sharpening without special stones while in the field, strength, cost, etc.
I have no problem with newer steels for what they are. Honestly, I have owned and used several. But I just think most of it is trying to out pace the Jones's a lot of times. Kinda like people do with phones.
