I found something better than a 117... It's two 117's

The brass/Coccobolo adds 1.6 ounces, which gives the knife a little different feel. I'm not sure which I like best. I'll have to do side by side testing out in the woods... darn...

Still as light or lighter than a 110 even with the sheath.

Can someone please post a pic of the knife blade next to a ruler? Or let me know how long the sharpened portion of the blade is? In CT, the sharpened portion of blade length can only be 4” max. On larger knives I have been able to enlarge a choil or find in a choil to be in compliance. Looking to get a nice fixed blade for my sone and this looks like it may fit the bill. Otherwise I was considering a 102 or 103.

shane shane No problem glad to help. J Jeff of the North beat me to it anyways.

For the record I think your son will love the 117. It’s not obnoxiously large a great knife for a kid and adults too. I gave my 3 kids 117’s for Christmas last year and they love them. It’s the kind of knife you don’t outgrow.

Your specific length requirement makes it even more perfect.

Something new. I don’t know why they’d call this one a Brahma. I think this may be the first 117 “Brahma” with a fuller.

Use one EDC. Save one in the closet.

What say you all? Value, rarity, desirability, quantity made, materials. All things to consider. I figured I’d ask what folks thought about them.

Use 'em.
Get them dirty.
Use it as a steak knife.
Cut flowers for your wife.
Let your grandson use it to clean fish.
Clean road kill animals with them.

Save the safe queen spot for the fancy handled knives.

Fair point. I have a standard version I use now for just about everything. Thought I’d switch it up a bit. And since I don’t have copies of either, decisions will need to be made ;)

I'm just as guilty myself.
I do enjoy using some of my favorites tho.
What am I saving them for?.

I have a friend when he gets a new vehicle he removes the floor mats....
He puts them back when he sells it.
"Why should I save it for the next guy?" he says.

If anyone has a 117 that they would be willing to part with, I am looking for one. Thanks in advance!!
