120th Anniversary BK98 Becker Tuko

OFFICIAL_KA-BAR OFFICIAL_KA-BAR , there’s interest here for a 125th anniversary reissue of the BK98 Tuko. If a general release isn’t possible, it’s been a real long time since KA-BAR had any special item for us Beckerheads, how about a limited release for those of us that know Becker’s work for a living!

Looks like he hasn't been around for three months.
That’s too bad, their 125th anniversary is something that should be celebrated. If I remember correctly, right around their 120th anniversary, their State and Union shop stepped up nicely; I got the BK98 Tuko, the Model 2, and an s35vn TDI knife. I also kind of recall a straight razor being available but it was in 1095 so I passed on it.

Just thinking out loud; for their 125th anniversary, I would love to see:

1. A reissue of the BK98 Tuko

2. A reissue of the BK15 in s35vn with bone linen micarta

3. A reissue of the BK62 Kephart in s35vn with bone linen micarta

4. A new BK99 “Big Brother” Tuko in s35vn with bone linen micarta that features full size Becker scales (this one’s for you The Warrior The Warrior )

You can have All the super steel I'm good with 1095

I'm in agreement, especially when it comes to bigger blades. I have a metric ton of powdered steel folders from dozens of manufacturers and locations and there aren't many I'd take over KA-BAR's 1095CV. All of CPMs SXXvn series are brittle in my experience...maybe Elmax or M4 for powdered steels, but they'd be cost prohibitive - and seriously lacking in "field maintainability". Why not D2, or maybe 154CM if folks are looking for something a little less rust prone. Hell, even 440C would be cool - if it's good enough for my LHR, it'd do for a Tuko reissue - or better yet, a 15 or 17 reissue....
....not that it matters. Those knives are disco'd because KA-BAR couldn't move them even in 1095, despite their excellent design. I'd be happy to see a reissued BK-24, but apparently, even a 14 made in D2 was too pricey for KA-BARs customer base. Which is a minor tragedy, IMO - a real all rounder for utility and portability made that much tougher with D2 - killed off by its less expensive progenitor.

To each their own, fellas. Taste is subjective.

As per choice of steel, my list of hoped for blades were all chosen for use in the kitchen. In my opinion, in 2023 carbon steel is less than ideal for that purpose. Coated carbon being even more undesirable.

OFFICIAL_KA-BAR OFFICIAL_KA-BAR , I received the email today announcing the 125th anniversary laser engraved knives. I must say I’m a bit underwhelmed, I got really excited when I saw the email entitled “Celebrating Our History... 125 Years!”.

The year is still young and ripe with opportunity! Consider letting your State and Union shop step up; a reissued BK98 sure would be sweet.

Thanks for the assist!
Hopefully there is something more coming, because the 4 knives with the big modern logo and anniversary year is disappointing.
Agreed, Don. I was hoping to see some really cool stuff when I opened that email up. I love my KA-BAR’s, but that laser etching isn’t enough to get me to repurchase things I already have.

I want one of there leather handled, red spacer tantos..... So I don't personally have to rehandle one of theirs, although That might be fun, too.
