120th Anniversary BK98 Becker Tuko

.....and how did it compare to your kitchen set?

That is the question.
How does it compare to the smaller and larger Santoku's in the kitchen knife set?

Now that they're gone I sorta want one...

It is thicker. At 3/32" it is noticably thicker than the kitchen set. As far as how it compares, it does so very nicely, especially when compared to the other tweeners, but is roughly on par with the small santoku. The large santoku is king in my kitchen, but the small works well, and this is definitely comparable.

There were things about it I didn't like, and those things are in the process of being rectified. I hope to have another thread posted this weekend in regards to those issues. The beauty of being a Beckerhead is we know how to fix stuff we don't like.

Had to make it my own. I like new stuff, but to me, if it is a Becker, you can have it any color you want so long as it is black.

Black handle scales, red liners, and my own custom kydex. This one required a good bit of modding on my part, the handle scales on the Tuko were ground much more than standard grips, and then having to make liners and a sheath that I liked kept me busy.

Thankfully it is finally where I want it.

I totally agree, very nicely done!

Do you know something?:D

i know i'm on the shit list and likely the last to be told ;)

i can't believe how many people knew before me, a host of things, and get told stuff i have to find out by accident ;)

but i know that money tells, and if they sold out reasonably well, money talks

talk to the money

And this "Enchanter"; of whom you speak, he has seen the Tuko? Where does he live?
Old man ... where does he live ...
He knows of a cave ... a cave which no man has entered.
And ... the Tuko ... The Tuko is there?
There is much danger ... for beyond the cave lies the Gorge of Eternal Peril which no man has ever crossed.
But the Tuko ... where is the Tuko!?
Seek you the Bridge of Death ...
The Bridge of Death? ... which leads to the Tuko?

One would think that a knife that sells out quickly would be a likely candidate for a re-run.

Here's hoping you're right!

Kabar had a few bk98s with them at blade, but rumor has it knife center bought all of them the second the doors opened. If anyone still wants one Keep an eye out for them on their website I guess.

Anybody seen one of these for sale recently? With 120 made I can see why folks wanna hang on to them, it's not like they'd be likely to replace it.

I know that i could use a second one.

My wife has taken a liking to mine and, well she scares me with it. I really dont want to have to lecture her about nonchalantly tossing it in the sink or slamming the blade down on the granite.

Really im just preparing an excuse to buy another one.

Yeah I would love a rerun in carbon steel for lower pricing, it is a great knife! As far as use, this is the one that rides in my edc pack daily. See more time in kitchens than in camp these days, so it works for that very well.
