Well I was planning to a giveaway when I hit 1,000, but I just plain forgot.

In light of the recent controversial threads about Cold Steel, I have decided that it gets tedious listening to the same people argue the same arguments about the merits or the faults of CS. I doubt anybody has ever had their mind either way changed by these threads.

I used to hate on CS, as well as AUS8, as well as tantos. At that point I had never owned a CS knife before, nor had I owned properly heat treated AUS8 or a well designed tanto.

Now more of my knives are CS than any other company. I have got quite a few tantos that I enjoy. Also, I have a healthy respect for AUS8.

Seeing as the spirit of this forum is continuing education, I figured I might make my giveaway in the same vein.

*EDIT*: Planterz said it more eloquently than me, so I will paraphrase it here. There are those out there that would never spend money on a CS knife, but would be willing to try one out if they got it for free. This is a chance for them to try it out and see if their opinion changes.
*EDIT #2*: You don't have to be a hater to enter! :p

Rules:
-You must not currently own any Cold Steel knives!
-After receiving the knife, I hope you will really use it hard, and after a few weeks, I expect a review of the knife. I ask you to be honest, so you hate it, I am fine with that (you don't have to sugarcoat it for me)
-I will let this run for 2 weeks until May 5th
-Continental US only
-By agreeing to this you are stating you are 18, and abide by all federal/state/local laws blah blah blah
-To enter, tell me something you love about the South. Winner will be drawn at random.

The prize: CS medium voyager in tanto in AUS8 (basically everything I used to hate, but now have come to appreciate), brand new, and I will sharpen it up for you. Also the winner has the option of keeping it in stonewash, or having me mirror polish it for you.

I haven't owned a CS since the early 80s and it was an itty, bitty Shinobu or something like that. Built like a tank!
I'd like to put this knife through the ringer.

Lived in both N & S Carolina for several years while serving in the Corps. My Wife & I loved the low country with beautiful live oaks and Spanish moss hanging off them.

Haha cool, I actually don't own a single CS but I'd be happy to use it and review it if I win.

As for the south, that's where my grandparents used to live so I'd visit down there every year (Texas and Georgia). I loved the weather in both because we'd always go after the winter in Ohio so I was ready for some warm. I also loved getting fresh peaches in GA.

EDIT - after reading the other posts, I am getting quite hungry!

Not an entry, I own 2 Cold Steel knives (and I've never been to the South). Just wanted to say I like this giveaway idea.

Count me in. I'll do a review, as I have for over 70 other knives. I don't own an CS knives, and would like to get my hands on the new Voyager.

I had dinner at Paula Deen's Lady & Sons restaurant in Savannah last week and gotta say I love Southern fried Chicken!

I'm new to collecting knives (not counting all the junk of my youth). I have never owned a Cold Steel knife and would love to replace my EDC Gerber with something better! A review would be no problem for me at all.

My favorite thing about the south is the Charleston area. I absolutely love the Battery, Boone Hall Plantation, Magnolia Gardens, etc. No place prettier.

Grits, biscuits, country ham - I'm in. Oh, also Blue Ridge Mountains and Chapel Hill, NC. Beach too.

Never owned a Cold Steel knife but as a Scot I always wanted the Culloden.
My favourite thing about the south was the shock and amazement when I got off the plane in Atlanta from England at the end of March, wearing boots, thermal socks and a coat with my hat in my pocket and hitting the wall of damp heat as I left the terminal. I'd never felt humidity like it!

I'll give it a shot. Thanks! The only Cold Steel product I currently own is their Inferno pepper spray. I've owned some knives in the past but they're all gone now. If I win it I'll not only provide a written review but I'll post a video too.

What do I love about the South? The food (!) and the people (my dad's side of the family is from Arkansas.)

I'm in. I used to go to the south a lot when I used to crew for my buddy who raced Corvettes. I've been all over from Homestead in Miami to VIR and two things are the same, hospitality and great food. I miss all of the little hole in the wall restaurants.

Never even touched a Cold Steel....The Bluegill and Crappie fishing and of course the southern cooking. I use to live in Hazard, KY and got quite a few good stories from when I was a kid :) Great giveaway and thanks for the chance.

I don't own Cold Steel anything. I had them send me their video pack and catalog last year. I be a hater of their videos. I'm from Minnesota and my wife is from a town of ~4000 people, Piggott, Arkansas. We have been married for almost 38 years. I love Southern food. Pulled pork BBQ, grits, catfish and hush puppies and etc. Cajun food is to die for!!!! Texas is my adopted state, when not here in Mexico... that's the DEEP SOUTH jajajajajaja!!!! Thanks for the opportunity... I hope the knives are better than their videos. I wouldn't pay my money for 'em. :p (sarcasm here)

count me in! I had a CS 2nd gen Recon 1 for all of a week, ended up trading it in for a more suitable fixed blade in my camping bag.

Thanks for the chance man!

I don't have a Cold Steel, and have never owned a Cold Steel. Since joining Blade Forums, I've read many an interesting thread involving Cold Steel. If I win, I'll use the living hell out of the knife and give my honest opinion.

Something I love about the south? My wife! :)

Cool giveaway. I dont own any Cold Steel but I have been taking a liking for this one. Reviews look good, wouldn't might testing one out. And how far south...South Texas south? Gotta love the barbacoa and brisket tacos dripping in oil with green salsa :)

I'm from Illinois just south of Chicago and I love the south because of the gun laws. Also the food is frickin good too.

Count me in... Im a sufficient CS hater but havent ever owned one and I'm open to the idea of trying one. The one thing I love about the south the amount of amazing music to come out if it.
