That was your neighbor's tree, wasn't it? :D

THats stepping up to the challenge.:cool::thumbup:

I dont think that will get topped , but I sure hope someone tries:D:D

I've found a couple of dead trees washed up on the beach near me, question is what's the wood likely to be like to chop?

I'm thinking it'll be a fair test, I just have to find the time and a willing volunteer to dig a pit to burry enough of the trunk in to effectively replant it for stability.

what type of tree is that???

thats a really brilliant shade of red running through that. looks like it would make some amazing veneers, and thats some thick heart wood. lot's you could do with that!

looks like a huge sugar maple.... maybe....errh...maybe not. Its an old one regardless.

THat heart wood always seems to be like chopping hardened steel too:eek:

lol. Naaaahh It was a tree in my front yard. A few of the neighbors did stop by and had a drink while watching me tackle this giant. Yea, I'm pretty sure a lot of folks in my area think I am crazy or something because there were several cars driving by that stopped and were just staring at me while I was getting a proper workout. :D

Woah !! thanks KnifeHunter :) I'm sure someone else has taken down trees this size with a Busse b4.

Last year I downed a pretty big tree with an old Battle Rat. Busse kin products are in a league of their own. thats for darn sure..

Right! I was gonna say, that looks like a nice tree you just chopped down!!

I know.. the tree looks healthy and such but the only reason why I took halh of it down was because it was infested with cutter bugs. Their main nest was in that limb. These things are such a nuisance and get all inside my house. So far they seem to be under control now. The remaining part of the tree is still alive and doing well. :)

Not sure what type of tree it is.? If anyone can identify it that would be cool. I have other pics showing the entire thing.

I also have a video of when the tree is falling but only managed to capture the last seconds because the tree fell super fast.

Also, I have never seen a tree with such a red core. It was extremely difficult to chop. It sounded like I was hitting metal on metal.

How long did you say that you lived in Georgia, T??? THAT'S AN OAK!!! BTW..., nice knives.

the bark looks like oak, but have you ever known oak to have -red- heartwood?

seriously, consider calling up your local hardwood lumber yard and have them cut the heartwood into turning blanks for you, then seal it up and let it sit for a few years. if the red stays true and holds up to the seasoning process, you've got something worth a decent bit of money, and if not money then really high in visual value.

You do know the ' symbol is for feet. For a minute, I thought you were cutting down the redwood forest. I'm still impressed.

about 19 years and then I come back to visit at least twice a year:thumbup:

Its Not a sugar maple either cause there's grass around the tree and no roots running everywhere on the surface like at my Grans:D

but:p;)

Its not Oak either my brother...Is it??:D

well, what does the neighbor expect, it was blocking his satellite signal?

That reminds me of a funny conversation I had as a customer service phone guy for a satellite company.

Caller: I can't get a signal. (in a heavy Spanish accent)

Me: is there anything blocking your line of site from the dish to the direction you are supposed to be pointing the dish?

Caller: Yes, like a 100+ foot tree on my neighbor's property.

Me: Is there anywhere on your property that you can mount it where the tree won't be blocking the signal?

Caller: No, that sucker is huge.

Me: Do you own a chain saw?

Caller: Yes.

Me: Do you think the neighbor will wake up if you sneak over there in the middle of the night and cut that sucker down?

Caller: I think he would notice

That one got a good laugh at the office.

I would love to see the video of the tree falling. If you have any pics of the leaves it would help a lot for a ID. I have a bunch of books if I can't make a visual ID.
