It could very well be some form of laurel oak. Seeing the leaves would help.

Shingle oak might be more likely.

Tell that to this little wall mount I made when I got it back to Ten-uh-sea.

there is one strikingly similar to that at mt. rainier park in washington.

I would hazard a guess that it would take a year or two at 8 hours a day to fell something like that with a hatchet/shbm, but I think it could be done.
