18 ft python, what knife would you use.

12 gauge or the 357 on my hip. Damned if im getting that close to a snake that big in the wild. I hear they are a real problem down in Florida a bounty on them or something. Up here in Western PA its rare to see a rattler let alone a 18 foot python.

Yeah, I would have shot it before it could get close enough to wrap around me.

in Pittsburgh maybe, im from harrisburg and i had a nest of timber rattlers about 50' form the house i use to live in. every year we would have to take out the nest but they kept coming back,

id have to say my Spyder kiwi..... i want a challenge lol:D
realistically id go for a Tops BOB field knife, bush crafting cleaver

A bottle of whisky will work better than any knife, pour some over its head and it will let go. (The alcohol burns in their noses and whatever-their-heat-sensing-organ-is-called-in-english) Then proceed to drink whats left of the whisky

That said, I'd never kill a snake without good reason, I have ball pythons and corns myself. They are awesome animals.
I understand however the threat that burmese pythons are to the ecosystem in areas where they aren't native.

"When you answer try to remember that the 18 foot snake is wraped around one leg, it has one arm and is around your neck. You only have one free hand to get away."

Under those circumstances, either of my EDC knives would fit the bill nicely. Strider SMF or my Hinderer XM-18.

I have gone down and hunted them once - unsuccessfully. I took a Condor Golok and a S&W 686 in .357 mag. and we had a 12ga on the airboat. In the situation described I would prob have had my EDC, a Spyderco Gayle Bradley or ZT 0350 - either one would have been effective I guess. Given the choice I would have a Dexter Russel Boning Knife - straight out of the kitchen and insanely sharp.

Case Peanut for me.

That's right--do not underestimate the power of the Peanut!!! ;)
